Patent number: 7545326Abstract: A system (50) and method (300) for providing multipath error mitigation for real-time wireless tracking of an object (100) is disclosed herein. A plurality of sensor readings are obtained from a tag (60) attached to an object (100) within an indoor facility (70). A plurality of reading sets are generated and sorted by zones. A zone with the highest average reading is preferably selected and the location of the object (100) is calculated based on the selected zone readings. In this manner, faulty position readings are eliminated from the location calculation thereby allowing for more accurate tracking of the object (100) within the indoor facility (70).Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2007Date of Patent: June 9, 2009Assignee: Awarepoint CorporationInventors: Dyami Caliri, Derek Smith

Patent number: 7535237Abstract: A sensor for measuring the moisture and salinity of a material is disclosed herein. The sensor preferably includes a soil moisture circuit, a soil salinity circuit and a probe structure. The soil moisture circuit includes a high frequency oscillator, a voltage meter and a reference capacitor. The soil salinity circuit includes a low frequency oscillator, a voltage meter and a reference resistor. A third voltage meter allows for voltage outputs to be measured to calculate soil moisture and soil salinity values.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2008Date of Patent: May 19, 2009Assignee: Advanced Sensor Technology, Inc.Inventor: Jeffrey Campbell

Patent number: 7504928Abstract: The present invention provides a solution to mistaken location calculations based on multipath effects. The present invention utilizes tags attached to objects that transmit signals at various power levels for reception by sensors stationed throughout a facility. Sensor readings at the various power levels are utilized to determine the location of the tagged object.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2008Date of Patent: March 17, 2009Assignee: Awarepoint CorporationInventors: Nicolas C Nierenberg, Dyami Caliri

Patent number: 7481974Abstract: A method (20) and apparatus (100) for sterilizing packaging (102) is disclosed herein. The method (20) applies a solution of hydrogen peroxide onto the packaging (102) and an alkaline solution to react with the hydrogen peroxide to generate hydroxyl radicals to kill microorganism. The use of an alkaline solution allows the sterilization process to proceed at a lower temperature and a faster rate. A solution of sodium hydroxide is the preferred alkaline solution. The temperature of the process is preferably below 100° C.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2005Date of Patent: January 27, 2009Inventor: Charles E. Sizer

Patent number: 7463907Abstract: A plug-in network appliance is disclosed. In one aspect, a network appliance performs a bridge between two wireless communication formats. In another aspect, a network appliance is deployed to perform position location services. In another aspect, a mesh network comprising one or more network appliances is deployed. A mesh network comprising one or more network appliances may be deployed to perform position location services. A plug-in form factor is described. A network appliance may convert power received from a plug in a first format to power in a second format for powering various components. A network appliance may connect with a wireless network and/or a network connected through a plug. A plug-in network appliance may connect to a weight-bearing outlet. Various other aspects are also presented.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2006Date of Patent: December 9, 2008Assignee: Awarepoint CorporationInventors: Derek M. Smith, James D. Adams, Nicolas C. Nierenberg, Joseph C. Baker

Patent number: 7312752Abstract: Techniques for accurate position location and tracking suitable for a wide range of facilities in variable environments are disclosed. In one aspect, a system for position location comprises a plurality of sensors (e.g. a network monitor, an environment sensor) for generating a measurements of a plurality of sources, a plurality of objects or tags, each object generating measurements of the plurality of sources, and a processor for receiving the measurements and generating a position location for one or more objects in accordance with the received measurements. In another aspect, a position engine comprises a mapped space of a physical environment, and a processor for updating the mapped space in response to received measurements. The position engine may receive second measurements from an object within the physical environment, and generate a position location estimate for the object from the received second measurements and the mapped space. Various other aspects are also presented.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2004Date of Patent: December 25, 2007Assignee: Awarepoint CorporationInventors: Derek M. Smith, James D. Adams, Nicolas C.
