  • Patent number: 6877387
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for measuring the displacement of a fluid in a conduit, by measuring the transit time of ultrasounds between two transducers (12, 13), in one direction and in the other, characterised in that it consists in: simultaneously exciting (16) both transducers; then simultaneously measuring (17, 18) the signals received on each of the transducers coming from the other transducer. The measured signals can then be digitised and correlated to determine the difference between the transit times. The invention enables to obtain faster and more reliable, measurement of transit times between transducers.

  • Patent number: 6829590
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system to implement risk management of foreign exchange of currency related to an online transaction. According to the present invention an exchange price and a tolerance parameter can be determined for a foreign currency as the foreign currency relates to a base currency. A computer system can receive a spot price relating to a market price for exchange of a foreign currency and compare the spot price with the tolerance parameter. The system can modify the exchange price if spot price exceeds the tolerance parameter. In addition, the system can receive information including the base currency amount involved in an online transaction and transmit the base currency amount and the foreign currency amount, wherein the foreign currency amount is derived according to the exchange price.

  • Patent number: 6762778
Abstract: A method and apparatus for manipulating a computer generated model and visualizing a change in projection plane before entering a projection creation command. After selection of a projection plane on the 3-D model, a generative drafting document can be created wherein the projection plane becomes the plane of the screen. The system can display a visualization of the projection of the model in plane with the screen, without generating a fully computed projection. Display of the visualization can provide increased efficiency in processing time as compared to a fully computed projection. The system can also display a graphical manipulator including a circular central region with a button in the middle, wherein clicking on the button can be used as a command to the system requesting creation of the projection. The graphical manipulator software tool can also include quadrants, wherein each quadrant is associated with a direction in relation to an orthogonal axis.

  • Patent number: 6745100
Abstract: A method and system for generating a path to be followed by a cutting tool in a milling situation. Using a novel geometric concept suited to a milling situation called “focal areas,” a toolpath is generated in which the cutting tool remains in constant contact with material to be cut, thus minimizing wear and shock loading of the tool. In addition, the toolpath is optimized so as to trace a short path, thereby minimizing cutting time. The toolpath generator is particularly useful in high speed milling applications.

  • Patent number: 6731869
Abstract: A movable rear-set lens of a camera has at least one flat peripheral region. A cam follower on the side of the flat peripheral region is located such that a predetermined space is formed on the side outward from the flat peripheral region. The predetermined space is ensured between a front-set lens and the rear-set lens when the rear-set lens takes a position optically closest to the front-set lens. An electrical wiring from a shutter section passes in the vicinity of the flat peripheral region and extends toward a camera main body. An electrical connecting section, at which a certain part of the electrical wiring and a wiring extending from a shutter actuating section associated with the shutter section are connected, is located within the predetermined space.

  • Patent number: 6717579
Abstract: In a system and method for controlling a reflection line in a CAD system and for adjusting the shape of an object to correspond to a new reflection line, a user sets a reflection line as desired, and at least one constraint on the object. The system determines a shape of the object based on the new reflection line and the constraint. The shape of the object may be determined using energy minimization. Alternatively, the system and method may use vector springs to attract the reflection line to a free-form curve set by the user, and then determine the shape of the object based on the new reflection line and the constraint.

  • Patent number: 6717597
Abstract: A method and system for aiding a user of a graphical object editor in defining inputs for a selected command comprises presenting a navigation console on the display in response to a user selecting a particular command. The navigation console contains information which is contextually related to the selected command and, in particular, shows a sample object having sample features representative of the command inputs and additional features showing the command output using the sample input features. The console display has active regions associated with respective command inputs which cover one or both of a sample feature associated with the respective command input and an icon representative of the respective input. When a user selects an region in the navigation console associated with a particular command input, the command processor state machine is shifted to a state appropriate to receive a definition of a feature in the main object model for use as the particular command input.

  • Patent number: 6715068
Abstract: In an electronic endoscope adopting a two-microcomputer system, an operating program for the two microcomputers can be updated easily and with certainty, and the number of photocouplers for isolation can be reduced substantially. A patient-side circuit has a patient-side processing unit and a ROM installed in a socket. An IO-side circuit has an IO-side processing unit, a flash ROM and a RAM for storing a program-rewriting program transferred from the patient-side processing unit. The both processing units adopt a start-stop synchronization communication method and are connected to each other by two signal lines via signal conversion circuits and an isolation circuit. Upon updating a program in the microcomputer in the IO-side circuit, the patient-side processing unit reads the program-rewriting program and the update operating program from the ROM and transfers to the IO-side processing unit.

  • Patent number: 6714738
Abstract: A lens barrel is associated with a frame body of a camera for advancing and retracting movements along an optical axis direction. A film accommodating chamber is located on the side outward from the lens barrel with respect to a direction normal to the optical axis direction. A motor is secured to the frame body, mechanical power of the motor being transmitted to the lens barrel via a gear train to move the lens barrel along the optical axis direction. The motor is located within a space defined by the lens barrel and the film accommodating chamber, such that an output shaft extends in a plane normal to the optical axis. The frame body has a path for insertion of a motor securing tool.
