  • Patent number: 8029711
Abstract: A method for producing a core sand and/or mold sand for foundry purposes mixes a granular mineral mold base material with an additive and an inorganic binder. An inorganic swelling additive having a swelling index of at least 9, in other words a higher swelling index that that achieved for coal, is used as an additive. Alternatively, it is also possible to work with an inorganic additive, for example with macro-crystalline graphite, whereby the finished mixture of the mold base material, the additive, and the binder is compacted to a density increase of at least 20 g/dm3.

  • Patent number: 8030493
Abstract: The invention relates to medicine, in particular to mono- and divalent salts of N-(5-hydroxynicotinoil)-L-glutaminic acid exhibiting psychotropic antidepressant, anxiolytic, heroprotective, neuroprotective, antihypoxia cerebroprotective and nootropic action. The novel compounds differ from the known preparations, including the closest prior art in the form of a N-(5-hydroxynicotinoil)-L-glutaminic acid base (nooglucotyl), in that they produce psychotropic effects, namely antidepressant, anxiolytic, neuroprotective and heroprotective actions, in such a way that lesion focuses caused by apoplectic attacks are reduced and age-specific neurological deficiencies and intellectual and physical work capacities are improved.

  • Patent number: 8030589
Abstract: A cost efficient and reliable method for online sorting of special glass which works independent of the color of glass and the shape of the material. The scrap glass stream to be detected is thereby irradiated by UV absorption or transmission values of the scrap glass stream, more specifically of the material-specific UV absorption edges and “UV-cutoff” frequencies, with reference values obtained before from standardized material laboratory inspections. If special glass is being detected, blowing nozzles disposed downstream of a detector unit divert the special glass toward a predetermined location where it is deposited. There can also be a system which includes a radiation source, a detection unit, an evaluation and control unit and a removal apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8028570
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for testing tires, for measuring the radial and lateral forces which the tires of motor vehicles will exert on a road. According to the method, a load-application wheel is forced with a predetermined force against the tread of the tire which is filled with air, the tire rolling off on the load-application wheel. The test is carried out in both rotational directions of the tire. After the first test the rotational direction is changed and the second test is carried out. The method is characterized in that the force with which the load-application wheel is forced against the tread of the tire is reduced during change of the rotational direction.

  • Patent number: 8016766
Abstract: The central venous sensor assembly comprises a catheter body with several proximal ports. The catheter portion placed in the vena cava superior is equipped with a proximal flux measurement unit, and the catheter portion placed in the vena cava inferior is equipped with a distal flux measurement unit. A first input channel supplies a measurement signal indicative of a flux vp to the evaluation unit from which the latter calculates a blood flow in the vena cava superior. Likewise, a second input channel supplies a measurement signal indicative of a flux vd to the evaluation unit from which the latter calculates a blood flow rate in the vena cava inferior. Due to continuity, the sum of the flow rates in the upper and lower central veins corresponds to the flow rate through the right heart and in the pulmonary artery and thus to cardiac output.

  • Patent number: 8012441
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for isolating hydrogen sulphide from coke-oven gas with the subsequent recovery of elemental sulphur in a Claus plant. The hydrogen sulphide is eliminated from the coke-oven gas by gas washing using an absorption liquid. During the regeneration of the loaded absorption liquid, hydrogen sulphide is accumulated in concentrated form and is fed to the Claus plant. Said Claus plant comprises a Claus boiler, a waste-heat boiler, in addition to a reactor, which forms an additional catalyst stage. According to the invention, the Claus plant is operated with a single reactor, which operates at a working temperature of below 250° C. The process gas that exits the reactor is returned after the deposition of elemental sulphur with a non-reacted residual concentration of hydrogen sulphide to the coke-oven gas that is to be cleaned, prior to the gas washing stage.

  • Patent number: 8011287
Abstract: Pin bosses (1) are proposed for the piston (2) of an internal combustion engine, having in each case one pin bore (3) which has a zenith-side ovality in the region (15) of the bore center (7), wherein the zenith-side ovality of the pin bore (3) increases starting from the bore center (7) radially to the outside and radially to the inside, and the nadir-side ovality increases starting from the bore center (7) radially to the inside. As a result, the shape of the pin bore (3) is adapted to every load-dependent deformation of the piston pin. As a result of this, in addition, the lubrication of the piston pin is improved in the region of the bore center (7).

  • Patent number: 8012444
Abstract: A solution is to be created, with a method and a device for generating hydrogen, in which silicon and/or an alloy that contains silicon is reacted in a reaction vessel (1), with an alkaline solution as a catalyst, so that the process, after starting, runs continuously and catalytically in the presence of silicon dioxide as a nucleating agent, without further addition of lye and without using higher pressures and temperatures (hydrothermal conditions). This is achieved in that the alkaline solution is used in a strongly sub-stoichiometric amount with reference to the entire reaction, whereby the silicon dioxide that is formed is precipitated onto crystallization nuclei.
