  • Patent number: 8238386
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a compact and low-cost system for generating ultra short high energy laser light pulses that does not use the known CPA scheme. The proposed approach is based on spectral filtering of laser light pulses of a mode locked laser source. The used mode locked laser source can be of any kind as long as its filtered residual pulse bandwidth supports pulse durations longer than 20 ps and up to 1 ns. After filtering the laser light pulses are directly amplified in an amplification element consisting of one or more amplification stages. At the same time or just after amplification the light pulses are spectrally broadened through a spectral broadening element, for example a fiber of suitably chosen core diameter and length to achieve a spectral bandwidth that is wide enough to support sub 10 ps pulses. Finally, the spectrally broadened laser light pulses are compressed by a compact dispersive element consisting of one or more Bragg gratings or a grating pair.

  • Patent number: 8225759
Abstract: A valve drive for activation of gas exchange valves of internal combustion engines, with which valve stroke switching is accomplished with little effort, a low construction height, and at low switching forces. Incorrect switching and damage to the camshaft during valve stroke switching are avoided, even at high engine speeds of rotation. An adjustment shaft that is rotatable by the camshaft and parallel to the camshaft has two adjustment devices rotatably disposed on it, along with two tappets between the adjustment devices. The tappets are connected with a shift gate for valve switching between two different cam profiles of a cam package that is axially displaceable on the camshaft. The tappets each have a contour that contacts the adjustment devices via a guide pin. A gear wheel engages with a gear segment on the camshaft, via a drive on the adjustment shaft, to rotate the adjustment shaft.

  • Patent number: 8220117
Abstract: A buckle structure has a female part and a male part. The female part has a cavity for insertion of an axial tab formation of the male part, which has transverse seats on opposite lateral edges for engagement by fastening members on the female part. The fastening members have teeth located on opposite sides of a longitudinal direction of coupling of the buckle, which form between them a transverse aperture for the insertion of the tab formation. The buckle has button-like release members connected to the fastening members and operable manually by pressing transverse to the buckle, to disengage the fastening members from the seats. The fastening members and the release members act in coinciding or parallel transverse directions, so that the simultaneous pressing of the buttons towards each other causes the fastening teeth to move away from the engagement seats on the tab formation.
