Abstract: A device for compensating large absorption differences when photographing the thorax by means of X-ray radiation, whereby a compensating filter is placed close to the X-ray tube in the beam of the X-ray tube perpendicular to the optical axis of the X-ray radiation, whereby a support running in the direction of the optical axis is placed on the X-ray tube housing above the optical axis at an angle of 93.degree. to 105.degree. to the vertical, at which a filter holder, which can be displaced in the direction of the support, is arranged with the compensating filter, allowing optimum matching of the compensating filter to each patient.
Abstract: A modular step exercise unit includes a plurality of individual steps. Each step is in the form of a base having a horizontal platform which comprises the upper surface of the base with depending sides forming an apron which terminates in a plane parallel to the platform so that the apron can be placed directly on a support surface, such as a floor. The steps may be made of differing size so that during storage or even in certain use conditions, steps which are not being used can be stored within the periphery of the apron of the largest step. A multi-level step can be formed by mounting a smaller step on a larger step. The individual steps could be used abutting each other or spaced from each other to provide a multi-level arrangement which includes individual steps and the floor.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved catalyst for the selective synthesis of monomethylamine (MMA) and dimethylamine (DMA) at the expense of trimethylamine (TMA) for a starting feed of methanol and/or dimethyl ether and ammonia. The current industrial catalyst for this process is a standard SiO.sub.2 /Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 material. The present invention combines this standard catalyst with microporous carbon molecular sieves (CMS) to form a composite material (i.e., a CMS/SiO.sub.2 /Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 material) with higher selectivity for the desired products MMA and DMA. The invention also relates to methods of making the improved catalyst and a process of using the improved catalyst material in the production of MMA and DMA.

Abstract: Water-soluble disazo compounds, a process for their preparation and their use as dyes.Disazo compounds are described which have the formula (1) given and defined below and are used in their function as fiber-reactive dyes for the dyeing of hydroxy- and/or carboxamido-containing fiber material, such as cellulose fiber materials and synthetic and natural polyamide fiber materials, such as wool. They produce brown dyeings and prints having high color strength and good color fastness by the application and fixation methods customary for fiber-reactive dyes ##STR1## in which R is hydrogen or sulfo,R.sup.1 is hydroxy, methoxy or ethoxy,is hydrogen or an alkali metal and the non-fixed sulfo group in the naphthylene radical is in the 6 or 7 position.
Abstract: A self-supporting facade component in sandwich construction, composed of at least two self-supporting layers and at least one interposed insulating layer, is metal-free, the self-supporting layers being composed of fiber-reinforced concrete and the layers being positively fixed to one another by non-metallic fixing means (preferably plastic anchors).
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the formaldehyde-free easy care finishing of cellulose-containing textile material by treating the cellulose-containing textile material with an aqueous liquor containing a polycarboxylic acid crosslinker and a crosslinking catalyst, then drying and heat treating, which comprises using boric acid or a derivative thereof as the crosslinking catalyst.
Abstract: A method of performing an aerobic exercise includes providing an exercise step having a base and a leg assembly. A first height level could be achieved by mounting the base directly on a support surface, such as a floor. A second height level could be achieved by detachably engaging the leg assembly to the base so as to elevate the base. In performing the aerobic exercise one of the height levels is selected and the user repeatedly steps up to and down from the top surface or horizontal platform of the base.
Abstract: Polyolefins having a molecular weight distribution M.sub.w /M.sub.n of .gtoreq.3 and which may be monomodal, bimodal or multimodal are obtained by polymerization or copolymerization of olefins of the formula RCH.dbd.CHR, in which a catalyst system comprising an aluminoxane and a transition-metal component (metallocene) is used, the transition-metal component comprising at least one zirconocene of the formula I ##STR1## and at least one zirconocene of the formula Ia or alternatively at least 2 zirconocenes of the formula I.
