Abstract: A digital media with encoded audio-visual content includes an encoded token. The token comprises visual data having defined characteristics, which are designed such that when the audio-visual content is output as analog output and then re-recorded as digital data, the resulting digital data includes an altered token. Digital data may be processed to detect altered tokens indicating that the data was recorded from an analog output. When an altered token is detected, the copy may be considered to be an unauthorized copy and handled accordingly.

Abstract: A mushroom compost compacting system and method includes a roller assembly mounted to a compost receptacle to form a nip, and a web or conveyor to convey mushroom compost to the nip. Mushroom compost is compacted at the nip from an initial compost height to a final compost height. The roller assembly has a roller, a shaft, and fixtures coupled to each end of the shaft. The fixtures are adjustable to define the roller nip height. In one embodiment, the fixtures are mounted to sleeves that engage the sidewalls of the compost receptacle. In another embodiment, the ends of the fixtures are mounted to a support, which may be a joist or a separate channel extending under the floor portion of the compost receptacle, or which may be a post that forms support structure for the compost receptacle.
Abstract: An elongate container includes a cylindrical chamber having an opening at one end of the container. A collar is affixed to the elongate container, and a threaded rod is axially disposed within the cylindrical chamber and coupled to the collar. The collar is adapted to rotate the threaded rod relative to the elongate container. A piston is disposed within the cylindrical chamber and is threadingly engaged with the threaded rod. The piston includes a sealing ring adapted to circumferentially seal against an inner wall of the cylindrical chamber and at least two axially aligned ribs. The ribs are disposed on a side of the piston and seated against the inner wall of the cylindrical chamber. With this arrangement, rotation of the threaded rod causes translation of the piston in the axial direction.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention exploit cyclostationarity of linearly modulated signals, transmitted through fading channels, to provide robust blind and data-aided mobile speed estimators. Embodiments of the invention utilize at least two methods of cyclic-correlation- and cyclic-spectrum-based methods and extension to space-time speed estimation at the base station in macrocells. In comparison with background art methods, the new estimators of the embodiments of the invention can be used without any need for pilot tones, and are robust to additive stationary noise or interference of any color or distribution. In addition, embodiments of the invention can also be implemented blindly, which can increase the data throughput. Performance results of the estimators of the embodiments of the invention are illustrated via extensive Monte Carlo simulation results.

Abstract: A method of obtaining one or more components from an image may include normalizing and pre-processing the image to obtain a processed image. Features may be extracted from the processed image. Neural-network-based regression may then be performed on the set of extracted features to predict the one or more components. These techniques may be applied, for example, to the problem of extracting and removing bone components from radiographic images, which may be thoracic (lung) images.
