Abstract: A portable systems release fluid pressure with a cavity within a patient. These systems include a drainage catheter, a pressure-responsive one-way valve, and a fluid reservoir all adapted to be mounted in proximity to the cavity being drained. One system in particular is used in relieving intracranial pressure. This intracranial pressure relief system may include a headband to which are mounted the one-way valve and reservoir. The drainage catheter may have mounted thereon a cranium seal formed of a soft material that contacts the inner wall of a cranium bore hole. The cranium seal may have threads to facilitate advancement into the bore hole.

Abstract: An ophthalmological device comprises an implant member carrying an antifibrotic agent that is released slowly over a prolonged period when inserted into a wound in an eye produced by surgery. The member is placed in the vicinity of a wound created during the surgery to inhibit inflammatory cell proliferation, thereby preventing the growth of fibrous tissue after the eye surgery.

Abstract: A book spread identification arrangement for a board book is provided, the arrangement comprising a plurality of conductive paths, contact means disposed adjacent at least part of at least one of the conductive paths and processing means connected to the conductive paths and configured for processing signals associated with the conductive paths. One selection end of each path is disposed adjacent the spine surface of the book. The contact means comprise one or more conductive surfaces and are arranged, upon opening of the book to a spread, to contact one of a plurality of combinations of one or more of the conductive paths. Each of the plurality of combinations is in a predetermined unique association with a respective single spread of the book. From the processed signals, the processing means are able to determine the particular combination of conductive paths contacted by the contact means and identify to which spread the book is open.

Abstract: A golf club head cover comprises a pair of complementary cover sections connected to pivot about a manually actuated spring-biased clip member normally biases the cover sections into a closed condition. The clip member includes a pair of handle elements to be gripped between the thumb and one or more fingers by a user and depressed towards each other to move the cover sections so they pivot and spread apart into an open condition. When the head of a golf club is between the spread apart cover sections in the open condition, or is withdrawn, the user releases the grip on the handle elements so the cover sections come together automatically into the closed condition.

Abstract: An air-conditioning system operable at different states employs a control unit including a receiver and a transmitter. The receiver is connected electrically to a switching device for a compressor of the air-conditioning system. The compressor is installed at a remote location exterior to a building. The receiver is responsive to an encoded radio signal to provide an electronic control signal for actuating the switching device. The transmitter is installed within the building and is electrically connected to a thermostat within the building that responds to temperature changes to provide a temperature control signal. The transmitter upon receipt of the temperature control signal transmits to the remote location the encoded radio signal for operating the air-conditioning system at one of the different states.

Abstract: An enclosure includes a chamber holding a driver with an end at a first opening in a housing and a rear end nearby a first terminal end of a passageway having a second terminal end at a second opening in the housing. The driver projects sound waves into a listening area directly through the first opening and simultaneously projects sound waves along the passageway and out the second opening into the listening area. The passageway comprises expansion and compression zones of different cross-sectional areas.

Abstract: A pulley removal system used to remove a pulley attached to an internal combustion engine includes a plurality of puller jaw members adapted to be detachably and radially connected to a hub member. Each jaw member comprises an elongated body having a top surface, an underside surface, and first and second opposed ends. The first end is adapted to be attached to the hub member, and the second end has hooked tip free to grasp a flange of a pulley. The hooked tip has a terminal edge with predetermined dimensions that enable it to fit within different sized recesses in the flange of the different pulleys and an underside arcuate surface extending from the terminal edge and merging with the underside surface to form a bite that receives the flange when the terminal end fits within the recess in the flange.

Abstract: An ultrasonic fuel/power enhancer for producing sound and ultrasound at different wind speeds and conditions is provided. The enhancer is mountable in an air intake of a vehicle with the vehicle having a predetermined number of cylinders and each cylinder having a combustion chamber. The enhancer comprises at least one band and at least one tubular whistle. A whistle connection mechanism is wrapped around the whistle with the whistle connection mechanism having at least one band receiving aperture and the band insertable through one of the band receiving apertures. At least one stabilizing tab is mounted to the whistle connection mechanism wherein the whistle is shaped and designed to produce sonic and ultrasonic sounds thereby atomizing gas droplets being supplied to the combustion chamber of each cylinder.

An elongated flexible tensioning member extends through the shared collapsible tubular members and between the ends of the rigid tubular members disposed between adjacent shared collapsible tubular members. The rigid tubular members of some of the interconnected frame sections form a frame roof with ends thereof tied to form a flexible joint at the apex frame roof.

The cylindrical member has an open, circular first end with a barbed knife-edge that has a perimeter with a diameter substantially equal to an inside diameter of an inner circular edge of an annular seal fitting snuggly around an exposed end of a shaft. A second end of the cylindrical member is partially closed with an enlarged threaded opening therein. The advancing device comprises a first threaded elongated rod element and a pressing portion for pressing against the partially closed second end. Abstract: Continuous molding process and apparatus forms a hot melt of thermoplastic material against a mandrel disposed between revolving belt molds to make hollow product having surface patterns and textures of a variable configuration. The hot melt is delivered to the nip region of the revolving belt molds. The mandrel extends downstream of the nip region and provides resistance to the molding pressure to prevent the collapse of the hot molded product and to define the size and shape of the hollow in the formed product until it cools and sets.

The tool includes a press member configured to grip the arm while overlying the location in the arm for the bushing. A screw element passes through a portion of the press member and engages a pressing cup with an outer rim that abuts an end of the bushing as the screw is manually rotated. The press member, screw element, and pressing cup upon being aligned and assembled with the press member gripping the arm and the rim of the pressing cup bearing against the end of the bushing, the screw element is rotated to apply a force to the end of the bushing as the screw element advances in the direction of the arm.

Abstract: A non-lethal method of cock fighting includes providing each gamecock with a garment such as a vest or collar that at least partially covers the body of the gamecock and carries a sensor at a predetermined location on the garment and a signal transmission device. The signal transmission device generates a signal when the sensor is struck by a gamecock. The spurs of each gamecock are covered with a protective device to prevent the spurs from causing injury during the cock fight and their beaks are taped shut. A scoring apparatus is provided that is responsive to the signal and includes a visual display that displays a numerical score for each gamecock. The numerical score is based, at least in part, on the number strikes detected by the sensor being struck over a predetermined time period during the cock fight.

Abstract: End portions of a pair of crossbar bed frame members are detachably connected by a locking mechanism including an arm attached by the pivot element to one frame member to rotate between a locked condition and an unlocked condition. One frame member has a first projection and the pivot element includes a second projection. A pair of elongated slots in the frame members receive the projections when the frame members are longitudinally oriented and the end portions are overlapping. The end portions have openings therein that are aligned when the end portions overlap. The arm has a portion that is inserted in the aligned openings when in the locked condition and withdrawn from the aligned openings to allow the frame members to be disconnected and separated when in the unlocked condition.

When attached to the cap, the enclosure has a pin that blocks an opening in the cap. The container may hold any fluid material, for example, a skin care product, deodorant, paint, etc. The container may contain various means of identifying the color of paint contained therein, and only a small amount of paint is within the container. This enables a consumer to obtain a number of containers each holding a paint of a different color to apply to a test surface.
