  • Patent number: 8348247
Abstract: A flexible tubing for fine bubble aeration is provided with an air passageway defined in part by an upper portion and a lower portion. The tubing can be made of a uniform weighted material with more material in the lower portion than in the upper portion. This makes the tubing self-orienting, in that it will tend to orient itself with micro-slits along the upper portion facing upward and the lower portion facing downward when submerged in a body of water. An automated, one-stage production line converts raw tubing material to a finished tubing product without the need for separate processing. A method of coiling the tubing places the micro-slits approximately 90° away from the surface of a spool hub, thereby avoiding a longitudinal arch in the tubing and ultimately preventing roll-over and improper slit orientation after installation in a water body.

  • Patent number: 8347535
Abstract: The present invention provides a display and method of making thereof that can comprise comprising fragmenting a first image into a plurality of individual first image fragments, fragmenting a second image into a plurality of individual second image fragments, and positioning the first image fragments and the second image fragments at locations and at orientations in a three dimensional space to form a display having the first image visible when the display is viewed in one direction, the second image visible when the display is viewed in a different direction, and neither the first image nor the second image visible when the display is viewed in other directions. The invention also envisions a kit for making a display and a method for making an advertisement where two images can be viewed from two directions and not from any other direction.

  • Patent number: 8351869
Abstract: A circuit tracer includes a transmitter that places one of first and second signals on an electrical circuit depending on whether the circuit is energized. A receiver detects the signals imposed on the circuit by the transmitter, with the signal strength indicating the proximity of the receiver to the circuit. The receiver detects which of the transmitter signals is present and thereby can also indicate whether power is present on the circuit. The receiver has first and second antennas, one optimized for wide area detection and one optimized for circuit breaker detection. The receiver has an OLED display that remains properly oriented for viewing regardless of the orientation of the receiver housing. The transmitter can have a clamp version that inductively couples to the circuit being traced.

  • Patent number: 8327474
Abstract: A magnetic drain stopper assembly includes an actuating lever in a drain pipe and is movable to allow fluid flow into the drain pipe in an open position and to prevent fluid flow into the drain pipe in a closed position. A magnet on the drain stopper interacts magnetically with the actuating lever or a sleeve on the actuating lever. The magnetic drain stopper is easily removed by simply pulling it out of the drain pipe. Studs on the drain stopper catch objects that fall into the drain pipe for easy retrieval and further catch residue such as hair for easy cleaning.

  • Patent number: 8323777
Abstract: Tough decorative printable film products having holographic-type images are provided that are low in cost. These film products include a relatively high temperature film that is made by continuous extrusion of the film resin onto a master film having pre-etched holographic-type imaging in order to provide a high-temperature primary film with conforming holographic imaging. This primary film provides a tough holographic-type image that is readily secured to any number of products to impart a holographic character to them. For example, this primary film is suitable for use on the surface of recreational sportsboards. When desired, sublimation printing can be used to impart indicia, text, images and colors, alone or in combination, to the primary film.

  • Patent number: 8323251
Abstract: Needle covers are provided for medical needle assemblies having a base and a cannula. The needle cover includes hub and cap portions. The hub portion is adapted to be secured to the base. The cap portion is adapted to substantially enclose at least a distal end of the cannula when the hub portion is secured to the base. The cap portion includes at least one generally outwardly extending wing having an outer edge and an enlarged rib extending along only a portion of the outer edge of the wing and only in a direction substantially parallel to a central axis defined by the cap portion. The cap portion is separable from the hub portion upon application of a torsional force, with the rib of the wing being thicker than the portion of the wing radially inward of the outer edge to assist gripping during application of such force.
