Abstract: An aerial lift is described which has a pivotable boom with a load end and a pivot end. The boom is constructed such that, as the pivot end of the boom pivots upwardly, the load end is raised substantially vertically. In one embodiment, the boom is mounted on a telescoping scaffold to provide the boom with a greater reaching range. In another embodiment, the boom itself is provided with telescoping members to extend its vertical reach.
Abstract: A fire escape window system has a fixed outer, peripheral frame set permanently into a window opening of a wall. An inner frame carrying sash units, screens, storm glass, and the like is mounted in the outer frame on a hinge axis. The inner frame pivots from a position weather-sealed across the outer frame to an open position where the opening in the outer frame is unobstructed for emergency personal egress. A latch retains the inner frame in a closed, sealed position but is quickly releasable for swinging of the inner frame to the open position. A spring may be used to bias the inner frame to move automatically to the open position upon release of the latch. A safety alarm signals upon opening of the inner frame. The latch may be electrically operated and, if so, it may be connected for opening the inner frame selectively in conjunction with a smoke or other fire detector which is activated by an emergency condition.
Abstract: Electrodes as for use in taking electrocardiograms are provided in a multiple electrode pad formed as an elongate, narrow, curved strip with the electrodes arranged in a curvilinear relation to one another. The pad readily assumes the shape of the thorax or chest of a man, woman, or child at several desirable application sites, such as precordially, for routine or emergency use. The strip may be perforated or otherwise weakened in lines between the electrodes for tearing of the strip to separate the electrodes for individualized placement.
Abstract: Described herein is a method and apparatus for storing, on a product card, information relating to the description and the unit price of a product to be weighed, and for providing a label printer with the stored information as well as the total price of the product in a simple and reliable operation. Preferably, the invention makes use of a card reader for reading the information stored on the product card, a computer for storing the information and for calculating the total price of the weighed product. The information read from the product card and the total product price are transmitted to a label printer for printing thereof on a label. In its preferred form, the invention provides for the modification of the unit price information on the product card to reflect a manually set unit price.
Abstract: A method of production of photopolymer printing plates particularly characterized in the transfer procedure. In the method, an electrostatic latent image of original material is produced on a photoconductive medium, the image is developed by application of toner particles, and the toner image is transferred onto photopolymer printing plates having photosensitive resin layer or containing polymerizable monomer through linear pressure of line contact. The toner image thus transferred is then exposed to light without being fixed, plate portions defined by the toner image being subsequently removed together with the toner particles.
Abstract: An astragal is formed by securing lengthwise flexible fire-resistant material to a mounting channel adapted to be mounted on an elevator fire door. The flexible fire-resistant material of the astragal is secured to the upwardly extending flanges of the mounting channel to form an elongated boot of uniform cross-section, wherein the astragal nose is substantially parallel to the mounting channel thereby insuring an effective fire seal.

Abstract: A tractor-drawn machine adapted to perform tilling, seed bed preparation, and planting in a single operation, comprises a frame from which plow units, a reel unit, a seed bed finishing implement and seed planting units are mounted seriatim. The attitude of the frame may be adjusted during operation in that the operator of the tractor is able to independently adjust the elevation of both the front of the frame and the rear of the frame.
Abstract: An improved screwdriver includes a well at the top of the handle adapted to receive a torque producing socket wrench drive and couple the torque producing drive directly to the shank of the screwdriver. In one embodiment, the well is defined as a square cross-section opening, adapted to receive the drive stud of a conventional socket wrench drive. In another embodiment the screwdriver shank, adapted to receive a standard socket wrench, extends into the well.

Abstract: An automatic device for gently recovering parts upon completion of machining operations as in an automatic lathe. Automatic lathes and other cutting machines generally drop finished parts from the machining area in the absence of custom-designed recovery devices, exposing the parts to damage by falling onto hard surfaces such as other completed parts. The present invention is useful without custom adaptation to a variety of automatic cutting machines. A cushioned shovel extends from a double-acting pneumatic or hydraulic piston beneath the part as its cutting is completed and before the part is dropped from the cutting machine. The shovel retracts and turns on the piston's axis to deposit the part onto a conveyor located away from the cutting machine. Fluid controls govern motion of the piston according to the position of a cam driven by or controlling the operation of the cutting machine.
Abstract: A water sprinkler is described for developing predetermined but variable patterns of water coverage. The sprinkler includes a plurality of pattern-defining apertures which are contoured in accordance with desired patterns of water coverage to pass varying but predetermined amounts of water as a sprinkler nozzle rotates. A sampling aperture progressively samples the outputs of selected pattern-defining apertures in synchronism with the rotation of the sprinkler nozzle so as to conform the water output of the nozzle to that of the desired pattern of water coverage.

Abstract: A training mat for golfers includes an area of artificial grass from which a teed golf ball may be driven, and a foot placement area on which the golfer stands. The mat contains diverse marking which enable a golfer to properly position his feet and the golf ball when using the different clubs of a set. A foot supporting wedge may be pivotally mounted on the foot placement area to support the golfer's rear foot.
Abstract: A workpiece lift including a pivotable boom with a pivot end that moves horizontally as the load end of the boom is raised and lowered, allowing the load end to move along a substantially vertical line. In a preferred embodiment the load end of the boom terminates in a workpiece arm which supports a workpiece and which extends downwardly from the load end of the boom so that the workpiece may be lifted upwardly and outwardly in an arc.
Abstract: An improved binder composition for use in the foundry process comprises a mixture of low molecular weight essentially mononuclear methylolated phenols which are cured through a reaction with a polyisocyanate. In the preferred embodiment, a minor amount of polyether polyol, a mutual solvent and a catalyst, preferably an amine catalyst, is mixed with the phenolic component.
Abstract: A golf training device, preferably simulating a conventional golf ball with respect to size and shape is provided with an annular magnet adapted to removably attach the training device to a spike of a golf shoe.
Abstract: A gate is described for use in constructing an enclosure for livestock. The gate includes a plurality of vertically extending and horizontally spaced bars supported between upper and lower, horizontally extending support members. Each bar has a center portion and a pair of edge portions inclined from the center portion to define a vertically extending channel between the edge portions. The bars are disposed between the upper and lower support members such that the channels of adjacent bars face in opposite directions and such that all of said bars are situated in-line with respect to each other.

Abstract: An improved laminate patch for repair of an opening in the facing surface of an interior wall or in a hollow door surface and having a thin, relatively rigid, and a non-combustible plate disposable over such opening, adhesive means applied to such plate at one side thereof for holding the plate in intimate proximity to the surface, and plate cover means applied to the opposite side of and covering such plate to form a smooth and substantially planar configuration with the wall surface.
Abstract: An elevating device is described having one or more pairs of crossed scissors members, each member having at least two telescoping sections. The scissors members are mounted for pivotal movement with respect to each other, and means are included for interconnecting opposed scissors members for effecting extension of the telescoping sections in response to the pivoting of the scissors members.
