    Abstract: A system for setting up video conferencing calls. Setting up such calls imposes a delay of about 45 seconds. Under the invention, an audio call is established immediately, and is held during the delay. During the audio call, static pictures of the conference participants are displayed to the participants. After set-up becomes complete, an audio-video conference is held, using live audio and video.
