  • Patent number: 8337468
Abstract: The present invention is a device for protecting against needlestick injuries, including a syringe, a sheath, an actuator, and a button. The syringe has a tube, plunger, and a needle in a hub. The sheath covers the needle in a first position, and the needle protrudes from a hole in the sheath in a second position. The plunger can be pressed to dispense from the tube in the second position. The actuator controls the movement between positions, and the button is the manual control for activating the actuator. The syringe extends through the sheath and actuator, such that the sheath and actuator can be adjusted for any type of syringe. A single hand can operate the button and the plunger.

  • Patent number: 8327511
Abstract: The fixing device for the assembly and quick release of objects includes a holding element that can be fixed to one of the objects to be held together, and a retaining device that can be fixed to another one of the objects to be held together and engage the holding element. The retaining device includes a plurality of separable parts that can be held closely together around the holding element by a disengageable pre-tensioning device. The separable parts are connected to each other by an elastically deformable mechanisms which stretch to in order to draw the parts located at a distance from each other together, while the pre-tensioning device includes a link wound around the parts in order to keep them closed on the holding element, at least one end of the link being fixed to a tensioning mechanism.

  • Patent number: 8220553
Abstract: The present invention is a method and system for supplying grease to maintain a sealed well during deployment of line, in particular braided electrical wire. The subsea grease cartridge system includes a subsea assembly; first and second grease containers filled with grease; a pump; a switch; and a restoring device to replenish grease containers. The method of operating the grease cartridge system includes: attaching first and second grease containers to the subsea assembly; applying hydraulic pressure to the first grease container; pumping the grease of the first grease container to a grease head; switching hydraulic pressure from the first grease container to the second grease container instantaneously when the first grease container becomes unable to supply grease properly; and pumping the grease of the second grease container to the grease head. The method includes replenishing containers from cartridges and switching back and forth between the filled grease containers.

  • Patent number: 8186436
Abstract: A method for ensuring the integrity of a well comprises selecting a thermally insulating fluid as a packer fluid, pumping the thermally insulating packer fluid into an annulus of the well and insulating the well by controlling the heat transfer from the production tubing to the outer annuli. Controlling the heat transfer may also mitigate annular pressure buildup and thereby reduce the incidence of casing failure. In one embodiment of the invention, the thermally insulating fluid comprises a silicone-based fluid.

  • Patent number: 7938959
Abstract: A system for fryer oil usage has at least one fryer having a vat and a valved drain, a first oil storage container having an oil delivery line connected with the vat, a second oil storage container connected with the valved drain and vat of the fryer, both containers having an inert gas blanket in a vapor space thereof, a first filter connected with the valve of the drain of the fryer, a pump connected with the first filter and the second oil storage container and in valved communication with the vat, a polishing line connected with the pump and with the first filter, and a three-way valve movable to a first position for blocking the flow of oil, a second position for allowing the flow of oil to the second oil storage container, and a third position for allowing the flow of oil to the vat of the fryer.

  • Patent number: 7931083
Abstract: A method and system for producing steam for extraction of heavy bitumen including the steps of mixing carbon or hydrocarbon fuel. The fuel is crude oil, vacuum residue, asphaltin, petcoke or coal. The oxidation gas includes oxygen, oxygen enriched air or air-combustion of the mixture under high pressure and high temperature. The fuel is mixed with low quality contaminated water containing organics and inorganics. The liquid phase transferred to a gas phase includes steam and carbon dioxide, wherein solids are separated from the gas phase. The gas phase is mixed with saturated water to scrub the remaining solids and produce saturated steam. The solid rich water is recycled back for combustion. The saturated steam super-heated dry steam and gas mixture is send to an enhanced oil recovery facility for injection into an underground reservoir.

  • Patent number: 7881155
Abstract: A pressure release encoding system for communicating downhole information through a wellbore to a surface location include a downhole tool with a valve for providing a fluid restriction to fluid passing in the wellbore, a sensor positioned in the wellbore for sensing a downhole condition in the wellbore, a brake cooperative with the valve for moving the valve between at least two positions in timed relation to the downhole condition sensed by the sensor, and a detector positioned at the surface location for providing a measurement value at the surface location correlative to the time between the changes of the pressure of the fluid in the wellbore. The system associates position of the valve with pressure transduction. The sensor is an inclination sensor for sensing an angle of inclination of the wellbore.
