Abstract: A drying and pressing apparatus for items of clothing has a flexible pressing dummy which can be subjected to the action, from the inside, of an air stream generated by a fan. The apparatus has a top framework and a bottom framework. The pressing dummy has one section connected to the top framework and one section connected to the bottom framework, and it is possible for the top framework to be retracted into a retracted position in the bottom framework and extended out of the bottom framework into an extended position. A locking device is provided for locking the top framework in relation to the bottom framework. By use of an unlocking input device for unlocking the locking device, it is possible, upon actuation of the input device, to unlock the locking device for a predetermined unlocking duration. This ensures a straightforward and nevertheless reliable operating sequence of the apparatus.

Abstract: To prevent partial saturation of a getter by contact with absorbable atmospheric gases when the getter is introduced into a vacuum vessel, a method for introducing and activating the getter and a getter unit includes introducing the getter into the vacuum vessel packaged in a protective sleeve, closing off the vacuum vessel, evacuating the vessel, and opening the protective sleeve only after the evacuation has commenced. The protective sleeve can be opened by the sleeve being made to burst under the action of a protective gas atmosphere that is present.

Abstract: A heater for a washer-dryer includes a duct in which heating elements for heating the air flowing through the duct are disposed. A device for increasing the airflow in the area of a heating element is provided in the duct to improve the transportation of heat away from the heating element. The airflow device can be one or more projections on a wall of the duct extending into the duct and can be disposed upstream of the heating element with respect to a flow direction of the air, adjacent the heating element, and/or downstream of the heating element.

Abstract: A clip- or sheath-type holder includes a partial plug-in part and a snap-on part for housing a combination of small parts or individual accessories for the vacuum cleaner. The holder is permanently fixed to the bow of a tubular handle such that the user has all the accessories at hand and can easily interchange the accessories. The combination of accessories is inserted into the housing body on one side and is snapped into place by a pivoting motion such that it is fixed on all sides.

The indicators are supplied with light from at least one light source assigned thereto in order to optically indicate an operation condition. An electrical component actuates the at least one light source according to the operation condition. In order to create a vacuum cleaner in which the light source can be disposed elsewhere than directly below the display indicators, yet the indicators are nevertheless well illuminated, a light guiding element is disposed between the light source and the display indicators, which redirects the light that is emitted by at least one light source to the display. The assembly provides for the advantage that the distance and the structural differences between the light sources and the display indicators can be easily bridged, so that these functional components do not need to be directly adapted to one another.

Abstract: A household appliance, particularly a vacuum cleaner, has a housing of rigid material and formed with at least two interconnected housing parts and a handle that is also made of a rigid material. The household appliance is rendered especially rigid and the risk of losing grip of the handle of the appliance is reduced by integrating the handle into a stiffening element that is disposed at the intersection of the housing parts and by providing the handle with a cover that is made of a softer material.

Abstract: A multiway valve contains a housing having several inlets and outlets and a chamber. Several seats are provided and each is respectively associated with one inlet or one outlet. A closure element is provided which can move between the seats and at least one actuator is provided in the form of an element made of a form memory alloy, able to displace the closure element from one of the seats when heating occurs. A spring element presses the closure element against each respective seat that it engages.
