  • Patent number: 6188406
Abstract: A typical conventional Graphical User Interface (GUI) displays multiple menu items, together with their respective icons (or symbols), on a display region. However, when a display region has a relatively small area, displaying icons (or symbols) together with their respective menu items makes the display region clustered, thus increasing the difficulty for a user to locate and select a desired menu item. To overcome this shortcoming, an improved GUI displays multiple menu items of a menu on a display region that contains a column window and row window. Each of the menu items contains a content field and a symbol field. The GUI only displays the symbol fields of the menu items that are scrolled into the column window and the content field of a menu item that is scrolled into the row window. In doing so, the improved GUI facilitates a user to select a desired menu item from the menu.

  • Patent number: 6181384
Abstract: An image converting apparatus for converting an image of an input video signal into an image with a metallic luster and representing the metallic luster with parameters designated corresponding to the input image. The apparatus is based on the concept that a model of reflected light can represented with a model of reflected light of diffusion reflection and mirror-surface reflection and that even though the resultant model of reflected light is three-dimensional data, assuming that the brightness of an input video signal linearly varies, the model can be represented with brightness data. A color correction circuit 5 has a look-up table with which calculations for generating an image with a metallic luster are performed with the brightness data and the designated parameters. A matrix calculating circuit extracts a luminous signal component from the input video signal. A pre-modifying circuit adjusts the amplitude.

  • Patent number: 6163827
Abstract: Round-robin arbitration circuit selects in clock cycle channel contending for arbitration; each arbitrated channel having channel number in sequence of channel numbers. Channel is designated as currently arbitrated; designated channel having designated number. Channels are masked from arbitration with designated channel, such that designated and unmasked channels are arbitrated to select channel. Channels having numbers sequenced after designated number are masked from arbitration, and channels having, numbers sequenced earlier than designated are also masked from arbitration. During subsequent cycle, designated channel is shifted to next channel in sequence of channel numbers by incrementing designated number. When designated number is last in sequence, designated channel is shifted to next having first number in sequence.

  • Patent number: 6157684
Abstract: Described is an one bit matched filter for generating a sequences of correlations between a signal bit stream and a sample stream of n sample bits. The n sample bits are arranged in a rang of n bit positions n, n-1, . . . , 2, 1. Among the n sample bits, m boundary positions are defined based on the bit pattern of the sample stream, where m<n. At a specific time T(k), the m boundary positions are used to generate a Contribution (k) for a section of signal bits that are shifted into the n bit positions. At the time T(k), a Correlation (k) is generated by adding the Contribution (k) with the Correlation (k-1) that was generated at the previous time T(k-1).
