  • Patent number: 8195424
Abstract: A method and a measuring system for characterizing a deviation of an actual dimension of a component from a nominal dimension of the component, is disclosed. In an embodiment, the method includes a) determining at least one measured value characterizing the actual dimension at a position of the component by a measuring device; b) making a nominal value available with which the nominal dimension is characterized as a function of the position of the measured value; c) determining a spatial distance between the measured value and the nominal value; d) making a limiting criterion available with which a permissible deviation from the nominal value is characterized as a function of the position of the measured value; and e) determining a tolerance utilization value characterizing the deviation for the measured value as a function of the spatial distance and of the limiting criterion.

  • Patent number: 8157073
Abstract: A separable clutch for a motor vehicle has a clutch plate including a moveably mounted release unit. The clutch is pressure-medium actuated and includes an actuating piston acting on the release unit to engage and disengage the clutch, and a pressure chamber which is delimited at one side by at least one part of the actuating piston and at the other side by at least one part of a clamping piston. At least the actuating piston, the pressure chamber and the clamping piston are resiliently supported in a defined position against the release unit by spring force. The spring force is smaller than a limit force required for actuating the release unit. A pressure change in the pressure chamber, brought about by a clutch actuation causes the clamping piston to actuate a clamping device such that the clamping piston is fixed before the actuating piston actuates the release unit.

  • Patent number: 7997066
Abstract: The diagnosis of the heating of a catalytic converter situated in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine is described. The system includes monitoring the actual ignition angle intervention. A current ignition angle is acquired over a specified time and converted into a torque model used for catalytic converter heating. Using the torque model, a degree of fulfillment of executed catalytic converter heating measures is obtained and an error signal is generated by comparing the obtained degree of fulfillment to a limiting value.

  • Patent number: 7482499
Abstract: The present invention provides novel compounds, 2,4,4,4-tetrafluoro-1-butene and (E)- and (Z)-1,1,1,3-tetrafluoro-2 butenes. Furthermore, the present invention provides the following novel first and second processes for producing 2,4,4,4-tetrafluoro-1-butene, (E)- and (Z)-1,1,1,3-tetrafluoro-2-butenes, and 1,1,3-trifluorobutadiene. The first process is a process for producing 2,4,4,4-tetrafluoro-1-butene by heating 1,1,1,3,3-pentaflurobutane at from about 200° C. to about 700° C. The second process is a process for producing (E)- and (Z)-1,1,1,3-tetrafluoro-2-butenes by bringing 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluorobutane with a base. By the first and second processes, it is possible to obtain respective target fluorobutenes with high selectivity. In third to fifth processes, 2,4,4,4-tetrafluoro-1-butene, (E)- and (Z)-1,1,1,3-tetrafluoro-2-butene, and 1,1,3,-trifluorobutadiene can be produced by heating 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluorobutane in the presence of a catalyst.

  • Patent number: 7174877
Abstract: The invention is intended to simplify a default mechanism of a throttle valve opening and closing device for the purpose of improving mountability of the device to a vehicle. When a motor generate no driving forces, a throttle valve is held in a position (1) by a return spring. In this position, gaps are formed between the throttle valve and a wall surface of an intake passage. Spherical recesses are formed in parts of the wall surface of the intake passage. In a position (2) where the throttle valve is opposed to the spherical recesses, the gaps are minimized in an operating range of the throttle valve.

  • Patent number: 6976936
Abstract: In a multi-cylinder engine having a compression ignition combustion mode, a vibration detecting sensor that is preferably mounted in a cylinder block or a cylinder head is used to detect a frequency and the detected frequency is appropriately analyzed to detect or estimate a cylinder pressure peak value and peak timing for each cylinder. An amount of internal EGR, a fuel injection condition, an engine speed and the like are then controlled so as to bring each of these parameters into an appropriate range thereof. The control apparatus suppresses variations in combustion states among different cylinders and different cycles arising from unit-to-unit variations or deterioration in the engine or part-to-part variations or deterioration in a component thereof.

  • Patent number: 6918061
Abstract: An element for carrying out and documenting a program or test sequence allows specific functions to be carried out. The element has at least one control input to which an external control signal can be supplied, and a variable can be varied in the element as a function of the external control signal. The process of carrying out a particular function can be varied by the element in such a manner that, when the variable has a specific value (“0”) and the external control signal is at a first signal level, the variable assumes a value (not equal to “0”) which differs from the specific value; and when the variable is at that specific value and an external control signal which is at the first signal level is once again applied, the variable remains at that specific value.
