Abstract: Symbols are provided for identifying a person as having a hearing impairment. The symbols ar affixed to an item associated with the person in such manner that the symbols are displayed to be viewed by other people. The symbol includes a pictorial representation of an ear, a designation indicating the ear(s) subject to hearing impairment, and a color coding applied to the pictorial representation indicates the degree of hearing loss. Examples of items to which the symbols may be attached include, among other items, a storm door, a screen door, an outside wall adjacent a doorbell, a house window, an eyeglass frame, an article of clothing, a cane, a walking stick, a dog harness, a dog collar, an identification card and a drivers license. The material, size and manner of attachment of the symbol to the item are dependent upon the item.

Abstract: A safe for a loaded hand gun has a box which includes a receptacle for containing the gun. The receptacle has a bottom providing a mounting surface. A lid is hingedly mounted on the box and is movable between a closed position covering the receptacle and an open position in which the gun is accessible. A locking device normally holds the lid in its closed position, and a touch pad mechanism is operable only by authorized personnel provides for releasing the locking device when access to the gun is desired, permitting the lid to move to its open position. The touch pad may be a numerical touch pad, an alphabetical touch pad or a fingerprint indentification touch pad. The mounting surface has a mounting hole for use in attaching the safe to another structure. A pressure sensitive pad is affixed to the mounting surface at the mounting hole and is positioned to be overlapped by the head of a mounting screw.

Abstract: A small child's hair washing device includes a body support portion for supporting the child's body in supine position on a counter top adjacent a sink, a head rest portion for supporting the child's head above the sink, a neck support portion adjacent the head rest portion and a drain portion between the body support portion and the neck support portion. The body support portion is releasably engaged with the counter top to hold the device in desired overlapping relationship with the sink and a safety strap may be provided to restrain the child relative to the device during the hair washing operation.

Abstract: A connector mountable on the surface of a printed circuit board (PCB) has a body of insulating ceramic material having a bottom surface, a main top surface facing away from the bottom surface, additional surfaces interconnecting the bottom and main top surfaces and each other including oppositely facing side surfaces, and an electrical lead having a bottom end portion on the bottom surface, a top end portion on the main top surface and additional portions on the additional surfaces and providing circuit continuity on the exterior of the body between the end portions of the lead, the bottom end portion being affixable to a pad on the surface of the PCB. A mating connector includes two body members of insulating plastic material pivotally connected for limited movement about a hinge pin, each body member having an inwardly facing planar surface, and a spring urging the inwardly facing surfaces toward each other.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an insulating cover device for through wall appliances such as air conditioning and fan units. The insulating cover is of one piece construction and is designed to minimize heat losses through both the appliance and through any air gaps or wall sleeves and openings. The insulating device is designed to fit the appliance in place of the normal operating appliance cover.

Abstract: A box of card stock for packaging a predetermined number of food items, such as taco shells and related filling materials, is convertible by the consumer into a tray for holding at least one such food item after preparation and carrying same from stove to table. The box has perforated score line means along which portions of the box are separable from each other to produce the tray, exposing at least one recess shaped to hold the prepared item. The tray has a base that cooperates with the recess to hold the prepared item in a stable upright position.

Abstract: This invention deals with an antijackknifing device for tractor-trailer assemblies comprising a curved tracking bar mounted on the front of a trailer and a combination of gears and pistons translating the circular motion of the trailer in relation to the tractor into a controllable linear motion.

Abstract: A device for changing the temperature of material placed therein by a user of the device comprises an inner member having an open end for receiving and containing the material the temperature of which is to be changed, providing the device with an outer envelope, and a multi-component temperature changing composition within the outer envelope and activatable by mixing. The inner and outer member are movable relative to each other to agitate and mix and activate the composition, thus to create an endothermic reaction or an exothermic reaction. In two embodiments, the members are rigid. In one of these two embodiments, the composition is activatable by rotational movement of the members, and in the other, the composition is activatable by telescopic movement of the members. In a third embodiment, the inner and outer members are flexible and the composition is activatable by squeezing the members together.

The carton also has a cover that is integrally hinged to one of the side panels and is selectively movable between an open position and a closed position in which the cover covers the open end. The cover is releasably held in the closed position by interengagement of the cover and a side panel remote from the side panel to which the cover is integrally hinged.
