  • Patent number: 4629395
Abstract: A fluid-powered rotary motor, and method of operating the same. Pressured fluid is introduced to the annular clearance between a rotor and a second member, and reaches an outlet by travelling circumferentially within that clearance. The direction of motion of the fluid on entering the clearance is substantially tangential relative to the rotor, so as to avoid any substantial jet impingement of the fluid upon the rotor, and so that the rotor is driven substantially wholly by the hydrodynamic viscous drag action of the fluid upon it. Methods of profiling the rotor surface are disclosed which enhance the surface area over which the viscous drag action can be effected.

  • Patent number: 4184057
Abstract: In a housing having a cylindrical bore, an inertia sensing weight is slidably disposed. At one end of said weight, a movable contact is normally carried in complementary engagement thereby separating from a stationary contact. When the weight moves under acceleration or deceleration, the movable contact accompanies the weight until the movable contact abuts the stationary contact. In the illustrated embodiment there is a second stationary contact normally separated from the first one. The movable contact, when closing, abuts both of them, making an electrical circuit therebetween.

  • Patent number: 3964447
Abstract: The disclosure herein describes a vane-type rotary internal combustion engine which includes two separate housings, a compressor housing and a motor housing; each housing includes an interior profile of a first order configuration with constant diametrical chord. A rotor is rotatably mounted in each housing and includes a series of arc-shaped segments disposed in circular alignment in the housing and equally spaced to define therebetween a series of elongated radial openings. The rotor of each housing includes also a system of partially unbalanced vanes slidably mounted in these openings and bearing at each extremity thereof against the interior profile of the related housing; each vane defines in the housing chambers of variable volume depending on the relative rotational position of each segment with respect to the housing profile. Both housings are similarly structured with the exception that the compressor housing includes two sections of constant radius.
