  • Patent number: 4759326
Abstract: An air throttle for an internal combustion engine having a shaft mounted butterfly vane mounted for rotation in the engine charge air inlet. The butterfly vane and shaft have an idle air bleed slot therethrough with a tubular idle valve mounted over said shaft for concentric rotation thereabout. With the butterfly vane closed for idle mode running, the idle valve is rotated between set limits to control idle air flow and idle speed. Upon rotation of the idle valve beyond the set limits, the butterfly is progressively opened for off-idle mode running speed control.

  • Patent number: 4744003
Abstract: Plug-on enclosed fusible switches, enclosed lug devices and non-enclosed molded case circuit breakers are attached to a panelboard in a single or side-by-side double row. Spring biased latches retain the devices to the panelboard. Locating notches on the panelboard locate the devices at incremental spacing to provide a variable, compact arrangement for the devices. Filler plates and end structures on the devices cooperate with a cover for the panelboard to provide an integral dead front. The panelboard is particularly adapted for field assmebly, including attachment of a main feed device which effects a plug-on feed in either a single or electrically parallel double panel arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4736081
Abstract: An alternate or push-push switch mechanism effects movement of a contact actuator (28) from one stable position to another stable position upon a single depression of a pushbutton operator (34,38,40,42,44). Actuator movement causes a spring loaded plunger (28a) to traverse a surface of a normally open contactor (54) to effect momentary contact closure with a stationary contact (46a) during the movement of the actuator and plunger. The duration of contact closure may be controlled or modified by providing a cam on the contactor surface for engagement by the plunger. Two such switches (20a,20b) are employed in series in a control circuit for a manufacturing machine (M) whereby both switches must be operated by a human operator of the machine within the closure duration interval of the contacts of the individual switches to complete the control circuit for the machine.

  • Patent number: 4734974
Abstract: An electrical coil assembly includes a bobbin having a pair of generally parallel end plates with a pair of terminals inserted into holes in an edge in one of the end plates. A wall is attached to that one of the end plates and extends radially outward therefrom, being formed with a pair of crossholes each aligned with one of the blind holes. A pair of terminals are partially inserted into the blind holes. Each of the terminals includes an elongated slot of reduced width at the end remote from the end plate. A portion of the terminal slot material is lanced out to form a tab at that remote end of the terminal. The close in ends of the terminal slots are lined up with the crossholes. Magnet wire is then wound on the bobbin hub and the two ends of the magnet wire are dressed through respective terminal tabs and then resistance welded thereto. A layer of protective tape is then applied over the surface of the wound coil.

  • Patent number: 4724325
Abstract: An ion beam treatment system for treating silicon wafers placed in the ion beam path. A rotatably mounted wafer pedestal has a plurality of wafer supporting substrates spaced about the pedestal. The substrates are constructed from an elastomer that is chosen for its ability to transfer heat generated by ion collision with the wafers away from the wafers. Each wafer substrate defines a series of elongated depressions across its surface. Certain of these depressions are connected to a pressure source at a wafer loading/unloading station to help acquire the wafers during loading and to facilitate removal of the wafers during unloading. Other depressions vent the interface between the wafers and the substrate to atmosphere to avoid undue pressure build-up on the wafers as they lift off the substrate.
