  • Patent number: 6159583
Abstract: A laminated non-slip liner or mat comprises a first lower laminate layer, the undersurface thereof having printed thereon a pattern of relatively high friction material; a second laminate upper layer of material with upper and lower surfaces is supported by the first layer, with an adhesive layer between the first and second layers, bonding the top face of the first layer to the bottom face of the second layer. The lower, first laminate layer serves as a barrier between the pattern of relatively high friction material and the adhesive. Preferably, the pattern of relatively high friction material is a high density matrix of printed latex, polyvinylchloride, or polyethylene projections which may include a tackifying agent to enhance the coefficient of friction of the projections. The second laminate layer may be a printed vinyl sheet. The improved liner or mat has the unexpected benefit of not adhering to fine finish surfaces of oil based paints, lacquers and linoleums.

  • Patent number: 5838247
Abstract: A lamp comprising an array of solid state lights, using light emitting diodes (LED's) has a massed arrangement of LED lights, the number of which may exceed the capacity of the face area of the lamp, such that a high intensity of light is achieved, being accomodated within the envelope of the lamp by being positioned at an angle from the face of the lamp. In one system embodiment, as a replacement for, and using the form of an incandescent lamp, the LED lights are mounted in substantial coincidence with the shape of the incandescent lamp reflector, to provide an area of light source concentration larger than the projected area of the lamp. In another embodiment for a lamp having a circular face, such as a traffic light, the massed lights are arranged as an annular strip facing inwardly towards the polar axis of the lamp. A conical reflector directs the light outwardly, to provide the required intensity of illumination.

  • Patent number: 5445356
Abstract: A system for pumping liquids that are subject to solidification in the line, uses a compressed gas as an expulsion medium for the liquid. A compound hose pipeline is used, having a variable volume gas chamber adjacent a transfer passage, extending the length of the line. The line may comprise an outer hose that provides an air annulus about a collapsible inner hose, through which the pumped liquid can flow. Air or other gas admitted to the annulus operates to expel the liquid from the inner hose, either upon the loss of pressurization of the liquid in the inner hose, or upon the application of adequate pressure within the gas annulus to discharge the liquid from the inner hose. A compartmented hose has a separating disphragm running the length of the hose, where admission of gas to one side of the diaphragm diminishes the adjoining chamber of the hose. When liquid is pumped, the diaphragm is displaced laterally, permitting full flow in the hose.

  • Patent number: 4622701
Abstract: A rocker beam construction for use with plumbing fixtures, for insertion within a drain tube to transmit stopper opening motion from a drain actuating linkage acting at one end of the drain tube, to the stopper located at the other end of the drain tube, comprises a unitary beam having a relatively thin deep substantially flat subsection transversely flexible relative to the plane of the web, which may be inserted within the drain tube by turning the beam on its side and bending it down through the drain aperture and into the drain tube, where it is repositioned having the web thereof in a vertical plane for engagement by the actuating linkage in a downward depressing motion, the improved device having a post portion connecting one end of the rocker beam with the stopper, to transfer rocking downward displacement of the beam by the actuating linkage into upward rocking displacement of the stopper means.

  • Patent number: 4583878
Abstract: A framing system provides an angle joining piece having a pair of leg portions in mutually inclined relation for use with suitably grooved framing members wherein the leg portions are initially entered within the respective grooves and then forced home to engage respective tooth portions in locking engagement with an internal surface of the groove, to substantially preclude withdrawal of the leg portion from its groove. The selected angle is normally 90.degree., for four sided frames, the legs each having a fulcrum portion and a buttress portion spaced from the tooth portion, to exert load against the tooth portion in securing relation therewith.

  • Patent number: 4523405
Abstract: A stake for supporting plants is provided having a high stiffness cross-section modulus including lobed surfaces for attachment of soft stemmed plants thereto and serrated tying surfaces for locating stem ties in non-sliding relation, the stake being of plastic and suited for manufacture by extrusion. In one embodiment a driving cap is provided to facilitate insertion of the stake into the ground. The stake ends are symetrically pointed to facilitate use.
