Patent number: 4854793Abstract: A cone expansion wall plug is provided comprising a threaded rod, an expansible socket, an expansion cone, an intermediate ring and a spacer between the head of the rod and said intermediate ring. During expansion and anchorage of the socket by the cone, the ring and the spacer prevent movement of the socket with respect to the rod. After anchorage, the rod may be screwed into the cone by shearing a collar of the spacer. During expansion, the socket only bears against the intermediate ring through a radial shoulder.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1986Date of Patent: August 8, 1989Assignee: Societe de Prospection et d'Inventions TechniquesInventors: Jean Ollivier, Roland Almeras

Patent number: 4771919Abstract: A dispensing device which includes two chambers, one for holding a resin and another for a hardener. Each chamber has an exit port formed in a neck which contains passageways leading to each of the chambers. The neck is equipped with external threads which mate with internal threads on a nozzle adjusting nut. A nozzle, which is carried by the nut can be moved from an open position to a closed position in which a portion of the nozzle's base closes the ports. A divider or tab projects from the neck at a location near and between the ports, and the nozzle has a slot to receive the divider. The divider serves to prevent mixing of the components until well after they exit the ports. The divider/slot arrangement further prevents mixing of the components by preventing relative rotation between the nozzle and the neck. Three separate sealing surfaces are formed on the base of the nozzle. One is cylindrical and seals against an O-ring carried by the neck.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1987Date of Patent: September 20, 1988Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: Richard J. Ernst

Patent number: 4759672Abstract: A fastener head, preferably a capped fastener head, including a sloping flange surrounding a central wrenching portion, having wrenching surfaces, such as axial hexagonal surfaces.A rib disposed on the sloping flange provides stability to a fastener head having such a rib by increasing the overturning moment required to buckle a column comprised of a fastener and driver. The rib is continuous around the flange and is as high as the bottom of the wrenching surfaces to reduce wobble during driving of the fastener head.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1987Date of Patent: July 26, 1988Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventors: Martin Nilsen, David B. Patent number: 4757661Abstract: A washer for attaching insulation to a roof member over which roofing membrane is to be placed. The washer includes a laterally extending apertured flange and an upstanding hollow cylindrical protrusion adapted to snappingly engage the head of a fastener used with the washer. The protrusion has an inwardly extending lip on the inside surface of the free end of the protrusion. In an alternative embodiment sloping ribs guide a fastener head into snapping engagement with an inwardly projecting lip. In all embodiments a resilient rib is disposed on a shoulder formed in the aperture in the washer. The rib resiliently urges the head of the fastener into engagement with the lip. The washer includes a downwardly extending hub, which may be equipped with means for retaining the washer in a batten strip.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1987Date of Patent: July 19, 1988Assignee: Illinois Tool Works, Inc.Inventor: Riaz Hasan

Patent number: 4749319Abstract: A sheet metal screw is disclosed having an enlargement in the form of a helical ramp on the shank adjacent the head, which ramp extends for only about 180 degrees for providing an interfering fit with a workpiece to obtain an anti-stripping action while permitting the screw to provide an effective clamping action.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1986Date of Patent: June 7, 1988Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: Henry A. Sygnator

Patent number: 4703880Abstract: A drive belt for a linear motion drive system in which a plurality of drive belts are helically disposed and rotated about a driven element to axially advance the element along its axis. The belts include a pair of spaced legs which resiliently abut legs of adjacent belts to equally space the belts about the periphery of the driven element. The legs also are adapted to accommodate changes in diameter of the driven element.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1985Date of Patent: November 3, 1987Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: Bernard F. Bishop

Patent number: 4699305Abstract: A drive belt for a linear motion drive system in which a plurality of drive belts are helically disposed and rotated about a driven element to axially advance the element along its axis. The belts include a pair of resilient legs which operate to equally space the belts about the periphery of the driven element. The resilient legs also are adapted to accommodate changes in diameter of the driven element.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1985Date of Patent: October 13, 1987Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventors: Walter C. Patent number: 4652971Abstract: The invention relates to a fastener assembly for use in attaching articles to printed circuit boards, and include a fastener, which has a generally tubular body, flanged at one end, is adapted to receive a screw. The fastener has a polygonal cross-section over a portion of its length. The flange which is located at one end of the tubular body, has an integral spring washer and includes indentations which allow solder to flow from one side of the printed circuit board to the other. The fastener with its integral spring washer provides improved clamping characteristics and avoids problems associated with large coefficients of thermal expansion of printed circuit board material in a direction perpendicular to the board.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1984Date of Patent: March 24, 1987Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventors: Francis C. Peterson, William G. Rodseth, William A. Spring

Patent number: 4568215Abstract: A fastening system including a two-part laterally adjustable fastener comprised of an apertured base and a headed elongated member. The head of the member is captivated in a recess in the base as the base is welded to an article. Complementary surface formations are formed on the base and the article to facilitate positioning of the base on the article during a welding operation.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 1983Date of Patent: February 4, 1986Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventor: John F.
