  • Patent number: 4377841
Abstract: A mobile land vehicle having an engine arranged to provide motive power to the vehicle and to pump or pumps in a hydraulic work circuit; the engine governed to operate at a given speed. An alternator is also driven by the engine and connected to provide alternating current to high intensity discharge lamps which are capable of operation only between a relatively narrow range of current frequencies. The drive means to the alternator produces a frequency near the high end of said range when said engine is at or near its governed speed and the frequency approaches the lower end of said range as the engine speed is lugged down under full load.

  • Patent number: 4360083
Abstract: A disc brake protective cover plate is mounted to a radial flange on a tractor loader wheel axle housing which is used for mounting multiple air-over-hydraulic, external drive caliper disc brake units thereto. The disc brake protective cover plate is in the form of a canister which has an open end slipping over the disc brake units into a hub of the tractor wheel. The cover plate protects feeder brake lines which are connected to a main disc brake unit and run externally alongside the radial flange to two servo disc brake units.

  • Patent number: 4359130
Abstract: A hydraulic system for a vehicle having an engine (10) governed to run within a predetermined speed range; the engine (10) arranged to drive a motive power train (11), a charge pump (14), a variable displacement pump (12) and a fixed displacement pump (15). The variable and fixed pumps (12 and 15) are arranged to supply hydraulic fluid pressure to a work circuit (26). A flow signal is created by passing the output from the charge pump (14) through an orifice (40), which signal is routed to a speed valve (46) which directs fluid to a control ram (78) to reduce the displacement of the pump (15) during a predetermined intermediate portion of said speed range.

  • Patent number: 4353947
Abstract: A laminated composite structure having a rigid honeycomb core and upper and lower fabric skin layers is provided with a reservoir layer of randomly oriented fibers, such as chopped glass or chopped mat, between the core and the top skin to retain the resin during lay-up so that the top skin may be laid on dry and become impregnated upon compression of the laminate. A reservoir layer may also be used between the core and the bottom skin to improve the bond therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4352398
Abstract: A circuit for controlling pitch and tilt of a dozer blade in which two cylinders are connected between the dozer blade and the dozer push arms. One cylinder only is extended and retracted to achieve tilt, and both cylinders are operated in unison to achieve pitch with divider valves assuring that equal volumes of hydraulic fluid reach each cylinder and are expelled from each cylinder. Extension and retraction is selectively determined by a directional control valve, while a selector valve determines whether both cylinders or only one cylinder is connected with the directional control valve.
