  • Patent number: 6710861
Abstract: This invention is directed to a method and apparatus for the measurement of web strain in a confined area. The apparatus comprises a fiber optic scope means and a fiber optic tube means operatively connected to the fiber optic scope means. The fiber optic scope means is secured inside the fiber optic tube means. An adjustable stand-off means is placed on the web. In an exemplary embodiment the stand-off means is operatively connected to the fiber optic tube means to provide a fixed but adjustable focal length between an end of the fiber optic scope means and the surface of the web. In an exemplary method, the web surface is marked with a series of reference points. The reference points are visually measured using the fiber optic scope means. After the web undergoes a movement, such as a converting step or fold, the web is again visually examined using the fiber optic scope means. The relative movement of the reference points is visually determined.

  • Patent number: 6569493
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of repairing a moisture barrier separating a paper machine dryer drum from the dryer journal. Such processes of this type, generally, involve filling the cavity between the dryer drum steam intake pipe and the dryer journal with a flowable moisture barrier material. The flowable moisture barrier seals leaks in the dryer journal moisture barrier.

  • Patent number: 6390299
Abstract: This invention relates to carrier straps for carrying prepared foods, such as rotisserie chickens, roasted turkey, roasted ham, side dishes or deserts. Such structures of this type, generally, employ a one-handed, paperboard strap which is wrapped around the plastic tray and plastic domed lid package in which the prepared food is located. The carrier strap secures the prepared food package and transports it so that the purchaser's hands do not get greasy or hot. Also, the carrier strap functions to provide a printable surface to identify flavor and brand.

  • Patent number: 6391158
Abstract: This invention relates to a loose draw detector for a paper machine wet press. Such structure of this type, generally, use laser triangulation displacement sensors mounted and positioned to measure the point of web release from the center roll and measure paper web wrinkles in the form of rapid fluctuations/decreases in the standoff distance between sensors and the web passing over the leadout roll to determine loose draw.

  • Patent number: 6346332
Abstract: This invention relates to a laminate substrate. An exemplary embodiment comprises a paperboard layer with a heat sealable layer secured substantially adjacent to one side of the paperboard layer. A co-extruded layer is secured substantially adjacent to the other side of the paperboard layer. The co-extruded layer has five layers: a heat sealable layer secured to the paperboard layer, a first tie layer secured adjacent to the heat sealable layer, a semi-crystalline nylon layer secured adjacent to the first tie layer, a second tie layer secured adjacent to the semi-crystalline nylon layer, and a heat sealable layer secured adjacent to the second tie layer. A fourth heat sealable layer is secured adjacent to the co-extruded layer.
