    Abstract: Organometalates are prepared by the reaction, in a liquid reaction menstruum, between a soluble salt of an organic-containing cation and a heavy metal salt, e.g., silver salt, of a metalate to produce a soluble organometalate and a substantially insoluble heavy metal salt. The heavy metal salt of the metalate may be substantially insoluble in the reaction menstruum. The organometalates are useful to enhance the selectivity to monoalkylene glycols when provided in processes for the hydrolysis of alkylene oxides.
