Abstract: A elongated plunger assembly for pressurized, conduit-enclosed travel utilized in recovery of hydrocarbon deposits in a ground penetrating oil or gas well. The plunger comprises an elongated mandrel, a plurality of radially movable curvilinear wear pads circumferentially disposed adjacent each end of the elongated mandrel, a pad-edge retaining housing extending on at least one end of the elongated mandrel to enclosably retain the longitudinally distal end of a circumferential array of wear pads onto the mandrel, and a centrally disposed wear pad securement ring arrangement to permit release of a worn wear pad, replacement of the worn wear pad at an inner longitudinal edge thereof, thus to permit simple field-accessable removal and replacement of any particular “conduit-worn” “wear” pad from the mandrel of the plunger.
Abstract: The invention comprises an actuator controlled harmonic drive transmission assembly for the speed and positional control of an output shaft of the harmonic drive transmission. The assembly includes a motor having a rotor shaft for providing rotational power to harmonic drive transmission and a control arrangement for permitting rotational positional and speed control between the rotor shaft and the output shaft of the harmonic drive transmission. The control arrangement may comprise an output speed, torque, vibration and/or rotational encoder mounted on the output shaft of the harmonic drive transmission. The control arrangement may comprise an output speed and rotational encoder mounted on the rotor shaft of the motor, each encoder feeding data to a control logic unit to control the motor driving the transmission.
Abstract: The present apparatus includes an improved weather resistant marine winch arranged to permit the control of lines on a ship and to minimize water intrusion into the winch. The winch comprises a base for attachment to surface of the ship, the winch including a vertically oriented drive shaft supported over the base. A cylindrically shaped drum is rotatively disposed about the drive shaft, the drum having an upper drum flange and a lower drum flange. The upper drum flange has an upper hub portion on which an annular peeler bar is arranged. The peeler bar has a central bore with a shoulder therearound. A ring cap is fit about an upper end of the drive shaft, with a downwardly extending flange mating radially about the shoulder of the peeler bar. An annular "U" shaped groove is arranged about the outer periphery of the shoulder to divert any weather elements from infiltrating under the ring cap, thereby protecting the winch from the weather.
