  • Patent number: 6164638
Abstract: An automated banking machine (10) identifies and stores documents such as currency bills deposited by a user. The machine then selectively recovers such documents from storage and dispenses them to other users. The machine includes a central transport (70) wherein documents deposited in a stack are unstacked, oriented and identified. Such documents are then routed to storage areas in recycling canisters (92, 94, 96, 98). When a user subsequently requests a dispense, documents stored in the storage areas are selectively picked therefrom and delivered to the user through an input/output area (50) of the machine.

  • Patent number: 6163737
Abstract: A medical item dispensing apparatus includes a dispenser (100) which encloses a plurality of magazines (168). Each magazine holds a plurality of medical items (170) which in the preferred form of the invention are cylindrical containers. Each magazine includes an opening (180). A guide (182) and a front gate member (194) are positioned adjacent to the opening. A back gate member (200) is positioned further inward from the opening than the front gate member. The front gate member and back gate member are moved in coordinated relation so that the front gate member enables a medical item adjacent the opening to pass through the opening while the back gate member moves to prevent the other medical items in the magazine from moving toward the opening. After the dispense of the medical item from the magazine the front gate member moves to block the passage of further medical items through the opening while the back gate member moves to enable medical items to move toward the opening.

  • Patent number: 6158518
Abstract: A system and method for selecting a horseshoe for a horse comprises preparing a series of horseshoe sets, each set based on the requirements a horse may have for a specific horseshoe and uses to which a horse may be put. Each horseshoe (20, 30, 40, 50) is a distinctive color (22, 32) and/or pattern (42, 52). The color and/or pattern correlates to the requirements a horse may have for a specific horseshoe and the uses to which the horse may be put. A user determines the particular requirements a horse may have for a specific horseshoe and the uses to which a particular horse will be put, correlates the particular requirement or use to a color and/or pattern and selects a horseshoe or number of horseshoes.
