Abstract: A simple and reliable portable flashlight shaped instrument that combines in a first embodiment an array of a combination of ultraviolet, white and multicolor LED arrays in combination with a broad band hydrocarbon gas detector and, in a second embodiment, a combination of ultraviolet, white and infrared LED arrays. There is also a readily attachable collector cone with a plurality of magnifying lenses, which are removable and a kit assembly with an extender sleeve for the collector cone, and a collector cone heater chamber. Many types of hydrocarbons fluoresce under the influence of an ultraviolet light. This rugged constructed instrument will find trace amounts of suspect materials and is extremely easy to use. The built in gas detector is cable of detecting trace amounts of accelerants days after a fire.
Abstract: A multi function personal alert safety cell system having condition responsive sensors and an alarm for emergency type personal. The personal alert safety cell system having a transceiver. The transceiver for transmitting and receiving at several different radiated power levels, defined as P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, through Pn that vary in signal strength from 1 microwatt through 1 watt. Each power level P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, through Pn being transmitted and received with encoded data and a personal ID uniquely assigned to the transceiver of the cell system. Also, the transceivers transmitting and receiving data being contained within a time frame and having digital instructions and coded format sectors. The power level ID varying in field strength for defining a distance at which the transceiver detects the transmitted and received signal from another of PASS transceiver and the signal being indicative of the distance the transceiver is from the other PASS transceivers.
Abstract: A problem of accounting for firefighters at a fire scene and also assuring that a firefighter has his PASS device turned on is an ever pressing issue. A tally key and holder, each with an embedded magnet, are designed to magnetically infiltrate a reed switch in the PASS device. Accordingly, the present invention provides a simple means of accounting for personnel and also assuring that their PASS devices are automatically turned on.
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a small, lightweight personal alert safety system which has a self-contained battery powered electrical and electronic circuit which is automatically activated when the breathing air SCBA is charged (pressurized) among other components, in a small casing for use by personnel working in dangerous environments, e.g., firefighters and rescue workers and the like. In the preferred embodiment, a pneumatic system is controlled by the air supply. The system cannot be turned off when the air supply is on. This safety feature insures that the firefighter is protected.
Abstract: A resilient watertight light baton is disclosed having multicolored light source and power source mounted therein. The light sources are in electrical communication with the power source via magnetic switches and resistor elements. The exterior walls of the light baton are machined to effectively transmit light from the light source. The body of the light baton further includes a ring switch about a portion of the body proximate to the light source. The ring switch includes a magnetic portion. As the ring switch is rotated and the magnetic portion is brought proximate to the magnetic switches, the electrical communication is completed thereby activating the light source.
Abstract: A computer automated hydraulic hauling unit for transporting precast concrete bridge segments from a casting site to an erection site. The apparatus includes a transportable chassis having computer controlled hydraulic members with means to elevate precast bridge segments from casting forms. The operator sets the lifting and transport parameters in the computer controller from the control panel for elevation and lift control. Each segment is rolled into place on a trailer bed and through automated electronic circuits the hydraulic cylinders apply force to raise the segments onto a movable and uniform beam structure. After elevation to a preselected height each segment is anchored by means of pinning vertical interlocking beams made of high strength structural steel. This computerized hydraulic beam trailer can accommodate one or two segments per load.
