  • Patent number: 4574290
Abstract: A high gain vertically polarized antenna section includes a hollow conductive central cylinder which is used to encase feed lines and power dividers used for feeding the antenna section. The cylinder is surrounded by an array of symmetrically disposed vertical radiating elements arranged in a plurality of symmetrical columns. A plurality of ring transmission lines or shorted quarter-wave stubs are utilized to distribute electrical energy to each of the vertical radiators in a manner such that the instantenous current flow is in the same direction in all of the vertical radiating elements. Any horizontal currents in the ring transmission lines or shorted quarter-wave is substantially cancelled by out-of-phase horizontal currents.

  • Patent number: 4559505
Abstract: A frequency synthesizer is provided including a reference frequency generator coupled to one input of a phase detector. The output of the phase detector is coupled via a pair of alternatingly connected filters through a voltage controlled oscillator and a divider circuit to the remaining input of the phase detector to form a phase locked loop. The first filter of the pair is designated for operation on a main channel frequency while the remaining filter is designated for operation on a priority channel frequency. The capacitive elements of each respective filter remain fully charged up for operation on their respective frequencies and thus when such filters are alternately switched between to change frequency from the main channel to the priority channel, the capacitive elements need not be charged to new levels to accommodate such frequency change.

  • Patent number: 4545639
Abstract: An electrical contact assembly is provided which is capable of accommodating batteries for other electrical devices exhibiting a plurality of different physical sizes. A V-shaped contact arm having a hook-shaped member at one end thereof and a double torsion spring at the remaining end thereof is mounted to a battery housing surface. The double torsion spring end of the V-shaped member is mounted on a support post and is fixedly held in position such that the torsion spring does not freely rotate. The hook-shaped end of the V-shaped member is engaged by a second post adjacent to the first post so as to place the contact arm under tension. The tip of the V-shaped member thus forms an elbow which deflects to a greater or lesser degree depending upon the size of the electrical device to be contacted.

  • Patent number: 4540989
Abstract: An antenna is provided which includes a first closely wound coil spring member of electrically conductive material. A second closely wound coil spring member which is substantially smaller than the first spring member is wound around a portion of the first spring member adjacent one end thereof. The second spring member is anchored to the first spring member by solder which is flowed into the coils of the first and second spring members where they contact each other. The end of the flexible first element to which the second member is attached is situated within a housing of rigid materials having first and second ends which include upper and lower apertures, respectively, the second spring member is fixedly held between the first and second ends of the housing.
