Abstract: A bag opening method and apparatus for use in bag filling and packaging in which a bag B is gripped at its laterally opposite side edges with a pair of gripping members and moved along a predetermined path. A pair of suction cups 23 disposed facing each other at respective mutually spaced standby positions are moved to respective closest positions at which a vacuum is applied to the suction cups to cause them to adhere to the outer surfaces of the opposite side walls of the bag. The suction cups are retracted away from each other to respective intermediate positions between the closest and standby positions. The suction cups having reached the intermediate positions are stopped there for a predetermined period of time. Thereafter, the suction cups are retracted from the intermediate positions to the standby positions, respectively.
Abstract: A vertical bag packaging machine has a steam nozzle that is inserted into a bag to inject steam thereinto after an article to be packaged has been filled into the bag, thereby replacing the air in the bag with the steam to effect deaeration. After the steam-replacement deaeration, a seal portion to be ultrasonically sealed is preheated by a preheating device, thereby making the temperature of the seal portion uniform throughout it. The preheating temperature is not lower than a temperature of a highest temperature region of said seal portion before it is preheated and below a melting temperature of a material constituting an inner side of said bag Thereafter, the seal portion is ultrasonically sealed by an ultrasonic sealing device. Thus, reliable and stable ultrasonic sealing can be realized.
Abstract: A hydraulic breaker assembly including a head cap, a cylinder, and a front head, which are mounted in a casing, wherein corresponding faces of the front head and the cylinder are connected by connecting pins, wherein the cylinder and the head cap located above the cylinder are fixed together by fastening bolts, and wherein the front head, the cylinder, and the head cap are supported on an inner side of the casing by variable dampers, which are brought into close contact with the front head, the cylinder, and the head cap. The movement in the casing is thus prevented so that the head cap, the cylinder, and the front head are strongly coupled together. The length of the fastening bolt is reduced to minimize the impact-generating section so that the bolt is protected from distortion stress occurring upon striking of the rod, thereby increasing durability.
Abstract: A first check valve has a narrow flow path portion (68) formed between an arcuate portion (46) of the outer periphery (45) of a support member and a second enlarged-diameter portion (11) of a casing. The narrow flow path portion (first portion of an intermediate flow path) is in fluidic communication with a back-pressure chamber (50) defined in the support member at the rear of the top of a valving element through a communicating passage (67) including a gap (66) between the outer periphery of the valving element and the inner periphery of a large-diameter portion (38) and grooves (27) on the rear surface of the top of the valving element. Thus, a low static pressure of fluid flowing through the narrow flow path portion is introduced into the back-pressure chamber to move the valving element by a large differential pressure during the supply of fluid, thereby allowing the valve opening to become larger than in the conventional apparatus and enabling a reduction of pressure losses.

Abstract: Methods of the present invention are designed to offer insurance to lessees of vehicles to cover up front, out-of-pocket lease expenses in the event of a total loss, e.g., theft, and preferably include steps performed by a vehicle leasing dealer as well as steps performed by one or more participating insurers. The steps are preferably performed with the aid of computing devices which are in communication. When the lease is prepared, the relevant information about the lease and the lessee is submitted by the lease dealer to the participating insurers. The insurers determine the cost of supplemental insurance based on this information and, if the cost is acceptable, offer insurance coverage to the lessee.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is footwear for three-beat rhythm walking. The footwear includes an outsole (S) having a first landing part (100) for landing a heel, a second landing part (200) for landing a center of a foot, and a third landing part (300) for landing a toe. The first landing part (100) includes a landing guide groove (110) which is curved inwards from a junction (C) of the first landing part and the second landing part (200) in such a way as to extend widthwise and forms a first beat of the heel landing on a ground. A rolling landing surface (120) is connected to the landing guide groove (110) to form a continuous curve, thus guiding rolling and landing of the heel. An air cushion (130) is provided in the first landing part, and absorbs shocks of the heel, which rolls and lands using the rolling landing surface (120).
Abstract: Improved methods and apparatuses are provided to address a potential “hidden beam problem” in wireless communication systems employing smart antennas. The improved methods and apparatuses utilize complementary beamforming (CBF) techniques, such as, for example, Subspace Complementary Beamforming (SCBF), Complementary Superposition Beamforming (CSBF) and/or Single Beam Complementary Beamforming (SBCBF) techniques.

Abstract: Gaming devices and methods of playing games wherein an indication of the cards which have already been discarded or dealt is displayed for a player to view prior to making a decision. One embodiment is directed to a gaming device comprising a video display which is designed for the play of Blackjack. Other embodiments are directed to table versions of the present invention wherein physical playing cards are actually dealt to one or more players. At the conclusion of each hand, an indication of the cards dealt is displayed for viewing by all of the players.
Abstract: A support device for a piston ring comprising a circular support defining a bore having an interior support surface to provide circumferential support to a piston ring. Also disclosed is a kit comprising a plurality of circular supports.
Abstract: An expandable vehicle-mounted shelter is a construction connected to a vehicle, in which a shelter container body 2 thereof is laterally enlarged to have an enlarged internal space in which special equipment, such as communication equipment, medical equipment, etc., and other equipment is provided, or otherwise to be utilized as a compartment for carrying goods. In the shelter container body, expandable frames are laterally oppositely provided, each frame having folding sections. In each of the folding sections, a support plate is pivotably connected, at the upper or lower end thereof, to the body via hinge means, and at least one folding plate is foldably connected to the support plate, so that the folding section can be pivoted around the hinge means to spread out, thereby enlarging the space inside the shelter.
Abstract: A method and system for utilizing shape analysis to assess fetal abnormality. According to one embodiment, coordinates of points identifying a shape in a fetal image are received, coefficients of one or more mathematical functions that describe the identified shape are determined, and the determined coefficients are utilized as markers to assess fetal abnormality.
Abstract: A cork extractor significantly reduces the countervailing forces that must be applied to a bottle during extraction of a cork by providing a handle having a rotational axis substantially perpendicular to the vertical, longitudinal axis of a cork as it is removed from a bottle. A handle rotates about an axis and comprises gripping portions on opposite sides of the rotational axis. The corkscrew is prevented from spiraling out of the cork during the application of upwardly directed forces independently of the screw carrier.
Abstract: A device for straightening a vehicle panel comprising a base which is attachable to a pulling device and at least three fingers pivotally connected to the base and movable from a retracted position designed for insertion into a drilled hole in a damaged panel. The fingers are movable to an extended position wherein a gripping portion extends generally perpendicular to the longitudinal pulling force. Another aspect comprises providing the gripping portion of at least one of the fingers with a substantially flat pulling surface in order to maximize the contact area between the finger and the damaged vehicle panel.
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are proved which allow a wireless communication system using a smart antenna(s) to selectively cause a receiving device to switch its operative association from one transmitted beam to another available transmitted beam.
