Patent number: 5574999Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus and method for receiving and automatically detecting the issuance of emergency, weather or other alert messages broadcast on a radio channel, and recording that alert message into an alert receiver on solid state voice circuitry with a day and time stamp for later playback. This invention also teaches interface methods between the alert receiver and other communication systems whereby an alert message, or an alarm tone, is automatically relayed and repeated on the other communication system after the issuance of an alert message. A method and apparatus for automatically selecting the strongest received signal from a set of pre-selected channels, monitoring the selected channel for signal strength and the presence of modulated audio, and a sequence for automatically initiating the channel selection process, should certain preset minimum parameters for the received signal fail to be met, is also taught.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1994Date of Patent: November 12, 1996Inventor: Daniel R. Patent number: 5499401Abstract: An insulated hand warmer adapted to be attached to the user's waist by a belt apparatus. The insulated hand warmer has a front wall, a top wall, a back wall, a bottom wall and a collapsible wall, and a plurality of adjustment straps. The hand warmer can be compressed against the user's body by the adjustment straps when not in use. The insulated hand warmer also features a central pocket wherein a heat source can be placed. The user's hands are inserted from each end of the insulated hand warmer to come into contact with the heat source. A front pocket for storage of the user's travel articles is also taught herein.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1995Date of Patent: March 19, 1996Inventor: Helen Heinmiller

Patent number: 5433488Abstract: This invention relates to an adapter between standard bicycle air pumps and Presta type bicycle tire valves. The adapter comprises a flexible, non-permeable connection tube having two ends. A first adapter is placed at one end of the connection tube. This first adapter is configured to mate with a Schrader type valve assembly on a bicycle pump on one end and the connection tube on the other end. A second adapter is configured to closely mate with a male Presta type valve on one side and with the connection tube on the other side. The connection tube is optimally approximately five inches long and may include an anti-backup valve to prevent the increasing air pressure in the tire from working against the pump action. A spoke clip may be included to temporarily secure the connection tube to the spoke of the tire while the adapter is in use to prevent strain on the Presta type valve.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1994Date of Patent: July 18, 1995Inventor: Robert K. Chiago

Patent number: 5355416Abstract: This invention teaches a method of mixing sound so that a monophonic common ambience audio channel, derived either from a mix of an entire performance, or from a specially created audio mix, is folded back to an individual performer's earphones together with a foldback of that individual performer's microphone or electronic instrument pickup audio signal. The individual performer's microphone or electronic instrument pickup audio is fed to both of a performer's earphones in polarity, while the ambiance mix is fed, simultaneously with the performer's microphone or electronic instrument pickup mix, to both of a performer's earphones, out of polarity, thereby creating a psycho acoustic pseudo stereo effect so that the performer perceives the monophonic ambiance mix as a wide spacious stereophonic field from behind the performer with no specific ability to place an instrument at a specific place in the field.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1993Date of Patent: October 11, 1994Assignee: Circuits Maximus Company, Inc.Inventor: Bill Sacks

Patent number: 5233809Abstract: This invention relates to a portable, easy-to-put-together, strong, durable mast support system for use in field operations where an antenna mast, or other similar mast, needs to be safely and quickly assembled, raised and supported. The mast support system is comprised of few pieces which stack in a compact longitudinal bundle for easy transportation to or from a site of use or for storage. When packed for shipment, the entire assembly may easily be placed on the top of a car or other vehicle. The mast support system is assembled through use of slideably interlocking pieces with hitch pins or clips. No special tools are required. The mast support system features a rotatable mast base alignment and support receptacle to enable one person to safely raise and lower a long mast after an antenna or other device has been safely affixed to the top of the mast when the mast is still at a safe horizontal ground-level position.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1991Date of Patent: August 10, 1993Inventor: Daniel R. Patent number: 5217171Abstract: A method is taught for processing scrap of electromagnetic equipment containing precious, nonferrous and ferrous metals, plastics and ceramics to recover significant portions of the precious metals contained therein. The method involves mechanically crushing the scrap to produce a mechanical mixture of particles of the electromagnetic equipment. This mixture is then subjected to mechanical concentration by hydrocyclone and recleaning on a cleaning table thereby producing a rough concentrate of precious and nonferrous metals. This rough concentrate is in turn, subjected to magnetic separation and then hydrometallurgical processing whereby the nonferrous metals leach into solution thereby producing an enriched concentrate of precious and nonferrous metals in the solid sediment.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1991Date of Patent: June 8, 1993Assignee: F&T Technology CorporationInventor: Alexander V. Feldman

Patent number: 5190578Abstract: A method for hydrometallurgical processing of friable concentration products containing precious nonferrous and ferrous metals comprising preliminary magnetic separation of friable products to pass ferrous metals into the magnetic product and to produce a nonmagnetic fraction containing nonferrous and precious metals. The nonmagnetic fraction is treated with an alkali solution in the autoclave at 80.degree.-190.degree. C. and an oxygen pressure of 0.1-0.8 MPa, passing aluminium into the solution and obtaining a solid sediment. The sediment is treated with a sulfuric acid solution in the autoclave under a surplus oxygen pressure, passing nonferrous metals into the solution and producing enriched concentrate of precious metals in the solid sediment.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1991Date of Patent: March 2, 1993Assignee: F & T Technology CorporationInventor: Alexander V. Feldman

Patent number: 4791824Abstract: This invention relates to a mechanism and a process by which hydraulic pressure principles may be applied to any reciprocating or rotational means, for instance a piston or a motor, to make the energy output thereof more efficient per unit of energy input into these machines. The unitary hydraulic unit comprises a first larger reservoir cylinder and a second smaller reservoir cylinder which is fluidly connected to the first larger cylinder. Energy is input onto the force receiving surface of the first larger reservoir cylinder and force is hydraulically transferred from the first larger hydraulic cylinder to the force transferring surface of the second smaller hydraulic reservoir. In a preferred embodiment, this two-reservoir system can be applied to any machine with a rotational output by means of a disclosed power conversion means. An efficient power takeoff means for converting reciprocal energy into rotational energy for use in connection wiht the unitary hydraulic unit is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1987Date of Patent: December 20, 1988Assignee: Delphin CorporationInventor: Neculai A.
