  • Patent number: 7180887
Abstract: A computer system having a network processor comprising a core processor and at least one microengine in operative communication with the core processor is provided. A table comprised of a plurality of entries with IP addresses associated therewith is built, wherein the entries are organized hierarchically according to an LC-Trie compression algorithm operating on the IP addresses. An Information packet is received within the computer system, wherein the information packet has a destination IP address associated therewith. The table is searched using an LC-Trie search algorithm to find a match between an IP address of an entry in the table and the destination IP address of the information packet. The information packet is transmitted to a forwarding IP address associated with the IP address of the matching entry. An interface is provided to accommodate communication between the core processor and microengine of the network processor.

  • Patent number: 7087901
Abstract: The present invention relates to an instrument for measuring in relatively short periods of time concentrations of constituents in optically dense materials using the spectra near infrared radiation transmitted through thick samples of the material while the material is either stationary or flowing. The invention uses a broadband incandescent intensity stabilized light source combined with collimating optics to transmit a parallel beam of light through the material under test. The light transmitted through the material is then collected by a focusing lens and imaged onto a rectangular entrance slit of a special purpose spectrometer. This spectrometer has no moving parts and employs a fixed diffraction grating to physically spread the image of the entrance slit into a continuous range of wavelengths. A portion of the diffracted slit images covering the selected portion of the near infrared range is focused onto an array of individual rectangular photodiodes.

  • Patent number: 6935083
Abstract: A skirting system for placement around a manufactured or modular home is provided wherein said system comprises a plurality of panels with upper and lower ends wherein the panels abut each other side to side to form a perimeter around the home. A plurality of base pads are provided and placed on the ground for supporting the lower ends of the panels. A plurality of two part channel clips are provided for securing the upper ends of the panels to the home in a manner that allows for vertical movement but provides for substantial support of the panels in a direction transverse to the length of the panels.

  • Patent number: 6832746
Abstract: A U-head plate is provided having a channel for capturing a base plate of a shoring apparatus. A pair of inwardly opposing L-shaped extensions extending downwardly from the U-head plate forms the channel. A latch attached to the U-head plate has a tongue for engaging a notch in the base plate of the shoring apparatus upon capture of the base plate of the shoring apparatus within the channel. The tongue is biased toward the notch by a spring.

  • Patent number: 6824789
Abstract: An increase in specific antioxidant activity of extracts from rosemary (Rosemarinus officinalis) is obtained by the use of a blend of tetrafluoroethane and acetone in the extraction process. A blend of tetrafluoroethane, acetone and methanol improves total yield. A tetrafluoroethane and acetone blend has higher efficacy but comparatively lower yields. The methods yield a liquid and oily extract that is readily mixed with a liquid product such as soybean oil for addition to animal feeds and human food.

  • Patent number: 6790349
Abstract: A waste treatment apparatus for the treatment and processing of wet material is provided. The apparatus comprises an inlet hopper adapted for receipt of the wet material. A pre-conditioning unit is provided having an input and an output end wherein the wet material is received from the inlet hopper at the input end and is conveyed to the output end wherein the wet material is processed to reduce moisture and pathogen content. A blower is provided for providing a forced air stream to direct the flow of the wet material and for directing the flow from the output end of the pre-conditioning unit. A pre-separation cyclone is provided and is operatively positioned for receiving the wet material from the output end of the pre-conditioning unit via the air stream powered by the blower, wherein the wet material is processed under the influence of cyclonic forces that further reduce the moisture content, pathogen content, and reduce the particle size of the wet material.

  • Patent number: 6770301
Abstract: The invention is a composition and method for non-specific enhancement of immune responses in human and animal recipients. A colostrum-derived feed additive (CDFA) for human or veterinary use comprises a sprayed-dried preparation of pasteurized and homogenized first milking colostrum that enhances immune responses in a recipient receiving an oral administration. Generally, CDFA is administered in a conditioning dose once per day during a conditioning period of time from about 7 to 14 days, and then in a maintenance dose administered once per day during a period that follows the conditioning period. The maintenance dose is about one-half the concentration of the conditioning dose. Administration of CFDA enhances immune response in a recipient in a dose-dependent manner.

  • Patent number: 6767566
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the extraction of a proteinase inhibitor from plant tissue. The extraction of the proteinase inhibitor begins with the addition of an alcohol-free, aqueous solution of an organic acid and a salt to plant tissue. The extraction solution and plant tissue are comminuted to reduce the average particle size of the plant tissue to improve extraction efficiencies. A weight ratio of between about 1:1 and about 1:10 extraction solution to plant tissue is used. In extracting proteinase inhibitor II from potato tubers, the extraction solution utilizes formic acid and sodium chloride, and the average particle size is reduced to between about 100 and 1500 microns. The process has been demonstrated to be cost-effective and provide high yields of the target proteinase inhibitor on commercial scales.
