  • Patent number: 6877364
Abstract: A swing weight scale is presented that measures the swing weight of a golf club by measuring the torque exerted by the club about fixed balance point. The apparatus comprises an elongated torque arm pivotally mounted to a base. At one end of the torque arm a pair of rollers cradle the shaft of the golf club from underneath. At the other end of the torque arm a vertical stop provides a reference for locating the butt of the golf club shaft and provides the mounting surface for a second pair of rollers that cradle the upper surface of the shaft at the butt end. The rollers allow the golf club shaft to freely rotate about its longitudinal axis so that the golf club head will hang down freely. A torque sensor is mounted at the pivot point of the torque arm to measure the torque produced by the golf club as it is supported by the torque arm.

  • Patent number: 6855067
Abstract: A metal wood-type golf club has a hollow body with a hosel bore disposed in the heel end. A hosel bore weight, selected from a plurality of hosel bore weights of different mass, is inserted into the bottom end of the hosel bore. Thereafter, the tip of a golf club shaft is inserted into the hosel bore and secured to the head to finish the club. The hosel bore weights preferably comprise weights of substantially identical size and shape adapted to conform to the interior surface of the bottom end of the hosel bore with the mass of the hosel bore weights being adjusted by varying their density.

  • Patent number: 6743112
Abstract: A golf putter head having a visual alignment aid includes a face member and a back body both of which may be selected from a plurality of differently configured face members and back bodies. The face member has a front surface, a top ledge, a rear surface, and a visual alignment aid comprising a rear edge parallel to the front surface. The rear edge is defined by the intersection of the rear surface and the top ledge. The back body comprises a flange portion that extends rearwardly and has an upper surface that is displaced below the top ledge. The face member and back body are selected from materials having contrasting colors so that the rear edge of the face member is contrasted against the background of the back body.

  • Patent number: 6604568
Abstract: The present invention comprises a method of making a golf club head by casting a molten titanium alloy and thereafter removing the alpha case that is formed on the surface of the titanium by means of a conformal milling process. The conformal milling process uniformly dissolves the alpha case without distorting the underlying metal. The reduction in wall thickness caused by the conformal milling results in a concomitant reduction in the weight of the part without any loss in the critical impact strength of the part. In fact, impact strength is increased. This weight can then be redistributed as a supplemental weight member, which can be used to lower the center of mass of the club. The weight member can further be positioned on the sole plate or club body in such a way so as to permit fine tuning of the location of the center of mass of the club, as well as shaped so as to increase the polar moment of inertia of the club head about the golf club shaft.

  • Patent number: 5263718
Abstract: A correlated set of golf clubs the heads of which each have a top ridge that extends longitudinally along the upper part of the head between the heel and toe ends thereof with enlarged mass concentrations being formed to provide upper protuberances at the heel and toe ends of the ridge. The top ridge and the upper heel and toe protuberances are especially configured to locate mass concentrations high on the heads and set back from the striking faces thereof to provide the club heads with an improved ability to resist twisting of the club heads upon laterally off-center impacts with a golf ball and to resist tilting of the club heads upon vertically off-center impacts with a golf ball.

  • Patent number: 5228919
Abstract: A paint spray system includes a spray gun for ejecting paint toward work pieces carried in a generally horizontal direction by a conveyor chain. A pneumatic actuator moves the spray gun in a generally vertical direction as paint is ejected from the spray gun. The pneumatic actuator includes a casing, a piston disposed in the casing for reciprocating movement therein, and a load plate connected to the piston for carrying the spray gun. The piston defines an upper chamber and a lower chamber in the casing. When compressed air is delivered into the upper chamber, the piston and the load plate are moved in a downward direction. When compressed air is delivered into the lower chamber, the piston and the load plate are moved in an upward direction.

  • Patent number: 5226654
Abstract: A putter is provided with concentrations of mass in the toe and heel portions, and the putter head is otherwise configured so that its center of gravity is approximately midway between the toe and heel of the putter head. Maximum stability within practical constraints is achieved by an especially configured hosel which extends vertically from proximate the heel of the putter head and positions the putter shaft so that its longitudinal axis intersects an imaginary line at a point forward of the face of the putter with the imaginary line being normal to the face of the putter and passing through the center of gravity thereof.

  • Patent number: 4758079
Abstract: An eye shield that effectively blocks ultraviolet rays is incorporated in a pair of ordinary eyeglasses. The eye shield comprises a combination of a coating or layer of light blocking material on the inner surfaces of the eyeglass lenses and a coating or layer of light reflecting material on the outer surfaces of the eyeglass lenses. This combination of light blocking material and light reflecting material results in zero light transmission through the eyeglass lenses.

  • Patent number: 4531348
Abstract: A belt-type power transfer assembly for driving the separating mechanism of a rotary combine harvester is disclosed wherein the assembly includes spaced apart driving and driven pulleys, an endless flexible belt interengaged between the pulleys to transfer rotational power therebetween and spring-loaded tensioning means operably engaged with the flexible belt to take up the slack thereof and to maintain proper tension therein when transferring rotational power. Stop means are associated with the spring-loaded tensioning means for restricting biasing movement thereof in the direction of the flexible belt, causing the tensioning means to act as fixedly positioned tensioning means after an initial belt tensioning movement thereof. The power transfer assembly according to the invention may be used to drive the separating mechanism of a rotary combine harvester.

  • Patent number: 4384455
Abstract: Grinder-mixers include a material infeed device such as a feed table for feeding bales of hay to be ground up and incorporated into livestock feed rations. Due to varying bale density, the bale grinder sometimes lugs down when encountering a dense bale. However, if the feed table continues to feed bales during such a lug down, the grinder may clog and stall. A bypass apparatus solves the feed table problem by providing a bypass valve automatically operable to stop motion of the feed table when a lug down occurs.
