  • Patent number: 6783696
Abstract: A method for reducing the loss of particles from the surface of porous getter bodies is taught herein. The method consists in producing on the surface of the porous getter a thin layer of a metal or metal alloy with a deposition technique selected among the deposition of materials from arc generated plasma, ionic beam deposition and cathodic deposition. The deposition technique allows for granular or columnar surface of the covering material but still allowing access to the surface of the getter material, resulting in a reduced getter particle loss.

  • Patent number: 6783569
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for producing core-shell type metallic nanoparticles involving (i) providing a dispersion of a first metal as nanoparticles in an appropriate organic solvent; (ii) providing a solution of a metallic precursor containing a second metal in an appropriate organic solvent, in which the second metal has a reduction potential higher than that of the first metal; and (iii) combining the dispersion from (i) and the solution from (ii) together to carry out the transmetalation reaction of the first and second metals, thereby forming core-shell type metallic nanoparticles.

  • Patent number: 6776970
Abstract: A method for removing oxygen from ammonia at low temperature is described. In one embodiment, oxygen contaminated ammonia is contacted with a getter material that includes iron and manganese that sorbs oxygen to yield ammonia that is substantially oxygen free. In one embodiment, the process of contacting ammonia with the getter material takes place at about 25° C. In another embodiment the weight ratio between iron and manganese is about 7:1. In another embodiment, the getter material is dispersed on an inert support of specific surface greater than 100 m2/g. In one embodiment, impure ammonia is contacted with getter material including iron and manganese that sorbs oxygen and with a drying agent that absorbs water to yield deoxygenated anhydrous ammonia. In yet another embodiment, an apparatus consisting of a gas inlet, gas purification chamber and gas outlet that deoxygenates ammonia when charged with getter material that includes iron and manganese is described.

  • Patent number: 6698351
Abstract: There is provided a double-sided printing press that includes a sheet-turning-over mechanism for turning sheets upside down at a sheet-turning-timing according to a set length of sheets, which has been previously set for the sheet-turning-over mechanism; and a sheet-length-detection means for detecting the length of sheets, which are fed to the sheet-turning-over mechanism; wherein where the length of sheets, which are fed to the sheet-turning-over mechanism and detected by the sheet-length-detection means, is deferent from the set length of sheets as a result of comparison therebetween, the sheets are stopped from being transferred to the sheet-turning-over mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6684778
Abstract: There is provided a printing press with a sheet-turning-over-mechanism for turning over a printing sheet, enabling the printing press to be selectively operable in a one-sided printing mode and a double-sided printing mode. The printing press includes a controller which, when any failure stops any one of steps of a mode switching operation for switching the printing press from the one-sided printing mode to the double-sided printing mode or vice versa, stores the information representative of a state of the mode switching operation at the moment of the stop due to the failure, and when a normal operable state is restored from the failure, resumes the mode switching operation from a step of the mode switching operation indicated by the operational state stored therein.

  • Patent number: 6669313
Abstract: A fastening device for an electronic board comprises a base unit, a position shaft and a resilience device wherein the base unit has a first opening, a second opening and a sidewall used to connect the first opening and the second opening. The surface region of base unit adjacent to the first opening has a plurality of protrusions and the sidewall essentially includes a plurality of extension portions for tightly withstanding the electronic board by resilience inducing from the extension portion. The position shaft has a first flange having a smaller size than that of first opening to pass through the first opening and a second flange having a larger size than that of first opening to lean against the inner surface region of first opening. The resilient device, coupled to the position shaft and inside the sidewall, automatically aligns the locating holes of the electronic board.

  • Patent number: 6472819
Abstract: A getter system for plasma flat panel displays is disclosed. In a plasma flat panel display having front and rear panels sealingly joined together at peripheral edges thereof to define an inner space and a plurality of walls disposed within the inner space, the walls defining a series of substantially parallel secondary channels with openings at first and second ends thereof and a main channel extending along the perimeter of the front and rear panels, the getter system includes at least one nonevaporable getter device disposed within the inner space. The at least one nonevaporable getter device may be located in a portion of the main channel that faces the openings at one of the first and second ends of the secondary channels.
