  • Patent number: 6579856
Abstract: The present invention provides compositions that can be administered to an individual and inhibit a stress activated protein kinase pathway. The invention also provides methods of increasing the sensitivity of cancer cells to a cancer therapy by contacting the cancer cells with a stress activated protein kinase pathway inhibitor. The invention further provides methods of reducing the severity of a cancer in a patient by administering to the patient a stress activated protein kinase pathway inhibitor and treating the patient with a conventional cancer therapy.

  • Patent number: 6431390
Abstract: A lid for a beverage container, the lid comprising; a top wall having a generally circular periphery; a groove extending downward from said top wall having a front side adjacent to the circular periphery, a back side more distant from the circular periphery than the front side and a drinking opening in the front side; a barrier extending downward from the top wall between and generally parallel to the circular periphery and the groove; and an annular mounting portion along the circular periphery for sealingly engaging the lid of the beverage container; the lid enabling mobility of the beverage container without spillage of a beverage.

  • Patent number: 6410233
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for the identification of nucleic acid molecules corresponding to genes regulated by a transcription factor comprising: cross-linking a transcription factor to a nucleic acid molecule in a cell forming a transcription factor-nucleic acid molecule complex; fragmenting the nucleic acid molecule to form a transcription factor-nucleic acid molecule fragment complex; isolating the nucleic acid molecule fragment; combining the isolated nucleic acid molecule fragment with a cDNA library of sequences known to be complementary to previously identified nucleic acid molecules, or a cDNA obtained by reverse transcription of a population of RNA molecules, to form a mixture comprising an isolated nucleic acid molecule fragment-cDNA complex; amplifying the cDNA in the isolated nucleic acid fragment-cDNA complex using the nucleic acid molecule fragment as a primer; and identifying the amplified cDNA molecule by sequencing the cDNA molecule and comparing to known sequences or hybridizati

  • Patent number: 6220476
Abstract: A lid for a beverage container, the lid comprising a top wall having a generally circular periphery, an annular side wall depending from the top wall about its periphery, a drinking opening in the top wall adjacent to the circular periphery, a barrier which extends from the annular side wall generally parallel to the top wall to prevent direct flow of a beverage from the beverage container through the drinking opening or a drinking spout formed in the top wall and adjacent to the annular side wall, the spout having a barrier formed in and perpendicular to the sloped side wall to prevent direct flow of the beverage from the container through the drinking opening or a fluid channel formed in the top wall wherein the channel comprising a fluid path and at least one barrier to prevent direct flow of the beverage from the container through the drinking opening, and an annular mounting portion at the bottom of the side wall for sealingly engaging the lid of the beverage container enabling mobility without spillage
