    Abstract: A method for planning menus for an extended period of time utilizing a device comprising a planning board, a deck of meal menu cards and at least one daily totals strip. The device may further comprise a card display apparatus. The planning board contains a plurality of columns representing days and each column has a plurality of spaces representing meals in a day. At one end of the columns, there is a totals strip with information sections including indicia setting forth daily limits or goals for specific nutritional factors. The meal menu cards contain indicia setting forth a balanced meal and the cards include information sections with indicia setting forth nutritional factors for the meal. The information sections on the cards and the totals strip are each coded with a visually discernable characteristic such as color. Nutritional information from each card in a given column is totalled and compared with the daily goals or limits indicated on the totals strip.

    Abstract: A fire extinguishing device which provides automatic actuation upon exposure to heat is disclosed. The device comprises a vessel composed of a polymeric material and including an opening, a cap for closing the opening after a fire extinguishing medium is charged to the vessel, a valve for pressurizing the vessel after the opening has been closed. The amount of pressure in the vessel and the composition of the fire extinguishing medium and the polymeric material are controlled so that, when the vessel is exposed to heat and/or flame, a portion of the vessel near the heat/flame fails creating a second opening in the vessel, in the vicinity of the portion of the vessel which was exposed to the heat/flame.

    Abstract: Several versions of a container incorporating a corner structure including at least one locking tab are disclosed. The corner structure comprises a top or bottom panel, a front wall connected to the top or bottom panel, a side wall connected to the top or bottom panel, a diagonal side wall panel connected to the side wall, a coupling panel connecting the diagonal side wall panel to the top or bottom panel and a reverse diagonal side wall panel connected to the front wall and the coupling panel. A first locking tab may be connected to the diagonal side wall panel opposite the side wall. The first locking tab is received between the front wall and the reverse diagonal side wall panel. A second locking tab may be connected to the first locking tab, opposite the diagonal side wall panel. The second locking tab is positionable in face-to-face relationship with the front wall. A tray embodiment includes four corner structures with locking tabs.

    Abstract: A method for treating water removed from the ground is disclosed. The treatment reduces the content of noxious sulfur-containing impurities therein before the water is supplied to an associated water system. The method involves the steps of spraying the water to be treated in the upper portion of a standpipe, entraining air with the water which is sprayed in the upper portion of the standpipe, and maintaining a required water level in the standpipe. Spraying the water to be treated in the standpipe causes a flow of water from within the standpipe through a bed of a catalyst for the oxidation of sulfur and sulfur-containing moieties to sulfate anions and from the catalyst bed to the associated water system. The water level maintained in the standpipe is that required to enable the flow of water therefrom through the catalyst bed to the associated water system.

    Abstract: Apparatus for conditioning the air of a closed space and for removing heat from a refrigerated display case in the space is disclosed. The apparatus includes first refrigeration apparatus, second refrigeration apparatus, a chemical dehumidifier which uses a desiccant, a regenerator for the dehumidifier, a cogenerator for converting a fuel into heat and shaft work, means for transferring heat from the cogenerator to the regenerator to enable regeneration of the desiccant of the dehumidifier, means for transferring heat from the condenser of the first refrigeration apparatus to the heat absorbing section of the second refrigeration apparatus, and means for causing air to flow in dehumidifying relationship with the dehumidifier and then into the space. The apparatus is operable to maintain the temperature of the case below that of the closed space and to deliver dehumidified air to the space to maintain a humidity ratio in the closed space below about 50 grains of moisture per pound of dry air.

    Abstract: Air conditioning apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus comprises compression refrigeration apparatus, a cogenerator operable to provide electricity and heat, an air handler, a plurality of mixing boxes operable to receive conditioned air, to cause a flow of recirculated air from a space to be conditioned, and to deliver to the space a mixture of conditioned air and recirculated air, a circulating system for circulating air to be conditioned through the air handle and then to the mixing boxes, a coil for heat transfer with air in the mixing boxes, and a sprinkler system through at least a part of which a heat transfer fluid is circulated to the coils. Preferred apparatus includes, in addition, at least one of absorption refrigeration apparatus and a dehumidifier which employs a desiccant, and means for using heat from the cogenerator as an energy source for the absorption refrigeration apparatus, for regeneration of the dehumidifier, or both.

    Abstract: Air conditioning apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes, referring to FIG. 28 of the drawings, a number of air outlets 636, a dehumidifier 630, a constant pressure blower 833 in the dehumidifier 630 a duct 653 for circulating dehumidified air to the outlets 636, dampers 655 for controlling the rate at which dehumidified air circulated to the outlets 636 is delivered to a space to be conditioned, and panels 637 positioned in heat transfer relationship with space to be conditioned by the apparatus. The constant pressure blower controls the rate at which dehumidified air is delivered to the air outlets 636 so that dehumidified air is available at the rate required from time to time by each of the air outlets 636. Each of the air outlets 636 is operable to deliver air circulated thereto to a space to be conditioned.

In one embodiment, the container has a rear side wall hinge and set-up panels extending therefrom so that it can be readily assembled from an integral prescored blank. Other embodiments relate to containers with improved thermal retention properties. According to one embodiment, a container is provided with an integral polymeric layer or foil layer which includes channels or depressions for releasing steam from a hot food product carried thereon. In another embodiment, a double side wall construction is provided and with vents for passing warm air between inner and outer side walls to warm the outside surface of the inner side wall to reduce the rate at which heat is transferred from inside the container through the inner side wall.

The mixing box comprises an inlet end, and outlet end, a substantially closed first passage to which primary air flows from a primary air inlet and then through the induction means and to and from the outlet end of the box and induction means intermediate the inlet and outlet ends of the box and operable, when primary air flows through the passage, to induce a flow of air through a first opening for mixture with primary air and delivery therewith through the outlet end of the box.     Abstract: A fibrous sheet useful as a battery plate separator is disclosed. The sheet, in a specific embodiment, is made from a mixture of Grade 210 glass fibers, Grade 206 glass fibers, Grade A-20 chopped glass strand, and Grade A-121 polyethylene fibers. The fine glass fibers impart a high absorbency to the sheet; the coarse glass fibers impart a lower absorbency; and the polyethylene fibers, which are hydrophobic, are essentially non-absorbent. The different fibers are used in such proportions that the sheet has the absorbency, usually from 75 to 95 percent, required for use in a recombinant battery, even in the presence of free electrolyte.

A channel surface is provided on the log, adjacent to the upper major face, and is adapted to be oriented substantially vertically, in such a log construction, opposite the interior surface of a flange of a corresponding log stacked on top of the log and forming therewith a channel.

    Abstract: An improved hitch pin assembly for releasably connecting a towed vehicle to a towing vehicle is disclosed. The hitch pin assembly includes a shaft and a generally C-shaped retaining arm, one end of which is pivotally supported at the top of the shaft for rotation between a first position in which it locks the pin in place in service and a second position in which it does not interfere with the removal of the pin. A magnet is positioned on the pin to retain the arm in the first position under most service conditions. The other end of the C-shaped arm includes a foot portion or guide bars to restrict that end from lateral movement relative to the shaft.

The secondary control system modifies the operation of the primary valve control system to vary the duration, extent and onset of valve opening and closing. The secondary control system includes a control plate, at least one rocker mechanism mounted to sequentially engage and disengage the control plate, and a driver mounted between the rocker mechanism and at least one of the cylindrical cams of the primary control system so that, when the control plate engages the rocker mechanism, the driver mechanism engages one of the cylindrical cams to modify the operation of the primary control system.

The mixing box is a double induction box in which secondary air is induced to flow into the box by induction nozzles, a fan, or both, for mixture with primary air and delivery thereof through an outlet end of the box to a room or zone of a building to be continued. Primary air flows into the box, at a controlled rate, through the induction nozzles and induces secondary air to flow into the box through a first opening for mixture with the primary air and delivery therewith through the outlet end of the box. The mixing box further comprises a fan for inducing a flow of air through a second opening for delivery through the outlet end of the box. According to the improvement, the box further comprises a closed second passage for the flow of air from the second opening to the suction side of the fan, a control for selectively activating the fan and a heat transfer device positioned in the closed second passage.

The first step of the method comprises establishing a flow to and from each of a plurality of successive closed zones, each of which zones(a) contains a quantity of a polymer-bound photosensitizing catalyst that is a source for singlet oxygen when irradiated by light of a particular wavelength, and(b) is of such size and shape that a major portion of the catalyst therein can be made a source for singlet oxygen by irradiation with light of a suitable wavelength.The flow is established by charging the substrate in the liquid phase into the first zone, removing reaction product from the last zone, and transferring reaction product from the first zone and from each intermediate zone to the next succeeding zone. Oxygen is introduced into each of the zones and each is irradiated with light of a frequency which causes the catalyst to be a source for singlet oxygen.
