Patent number: 5642648Abstract: A tool for non-destructively unlatching the door handle of a vehicle which has been locked with the window upraised. The tool comprises a relatively rigid elongate tube which is insertable into the door cavity, and the tube has a relatively rigid gripping rod slidably positioned therein. At its front end, the gripping rod has an eyelet which is adapted to hook onto a latching linkage rod located within the vehicle door. An operating handle is secured to the rear end of the gripping rod and, by pulling and withdrawing the gripping rod, a positive gripping force is exerted on the latching link rod so that the same may be moved to unlatch the door handle. Two embodiments are disclosed whereby the tool is effective for use with vertically or horizontally oriented linkage rods.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1996Date of Patent: July 1, 1997Assignee: HPC, Inc.Inventors: Adulbert Wendt, Alan Goeke, Giles Kalvelage, II

Patent number: 5413005Abstract: A funnel is operationally mountable on the downstream side of a weir positioned in a wastewater stream which contains oils, fats and/or grease. The funnel has a sample port near the discharge neck and tubing is connected to the funnel in communication with the sample port. The opposite end of the tubing is connected to a pump. Wastewater flowing over the weir flows into the funnel and is agitated and mixed. Operation of the pump causes a homogeneous and representative sample to be withdrawn from the stream.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1994Date of Patent: May 9, 1995Assignee: Environmental Monitoring and Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Keith Gray

Patent number: 5294177Abstract: A rocker chair has a table concealed in an arm thereof which is extendible into an operative horizontal position. A stop block member is slidably mounted on a side base member of the chair and is moved into an operative position wherein it is effective to prevent forward and backward rocking motion when the chair is in the upright position. An actuating cable is connected between the stop block and the table and is effective to automatically move the stop block into the operative position when the table is extended. The invention can be incorporated into a rocker/recliner chair or a simple rocker chair.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1992Date of Patent: March 15, 1994Assignee: The Berkline CorporationInventors: Glen L. Patent number: 5276951Abstract: A hand-held tool for pulling the inner cylinder from a tubular lock that has become inoperative. The tool comprises a cylindrical housing carrying a threaded main shaft which has a front segment with resilient fingers. The fingers are radially compressible for insertion into the annular key passageway of the lock whereupon the fingers return to original condition and have tips that engage the inner rim of the lock cylinder. A second shaft is slidable within the main shaft and carries a locking cup that retains the inserted fingers in the rim-engaging condition. A threaded nut on the main shaft is rotatable manually and with a wrench or the like to withdraw the main shaft and forcibly pull the inner cylinder from the lock.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 1993Date of Patent: January 11, 1994Assignee: HPC, Inc.Inventor: Donald Gluszek

Patent number: 5217277Abstract: A collapsible table is concealed and stored in the hollow chamber of an upholstered seat arm. The table is pivotally connected to the seat arm by a two-segment spar which supports the table in the extended position and is collapsible for returning the table to the stored position in the arm chamber. A handle is easily manipulable by a seat occupant for collapsing the spar and returning the table to its storage position. The outer upholstered panel of the arm carries the male member of a latch for pivotal movement of the panel to permit access to the chamber and extension of the table. The table carries a cup holder which is pivotal between concealed and extended positions and which is automatically returned to its concealed position by engagement with the front post of the arm when the table is returned to its storage position.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1992Date of Patent: June 8, 1993Assignee: The Berkline CorporationInventors: Glen L. Patent number: 5186052Abstract: Apparatus and a method for monitoring the rate of flow of storm water in an individual sewer. The apparatus comprises a collector bowl mountable beneath the storm sewer manhole cover and positioned to collect all water entering through the manhole cover. A flow pipe is mounted in the bowl and projects upwardly from the bottom thereof. Water collected in the bowl must rise to a level above the flow pipe before it will flow through the pipe and into the sewer. A flow meter sensitive to the water height above the flow pipe is positioned in the bowl and measures and records the rate of flow.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1991Date of Patent: February 16, 1993Assignee: Environmental Monitoring and Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Keith Gray

Patent number: 5169208Abstract: A footstool for recliner chairs having a linkage mechanism that is operable by conventional occupant controlled actuating mechanisms. The footstool comprises a base panel and an intermediate panel pivotally interconnected by the linkage mechanism so that when the footstool is extended, the two panels form a substantially uninterrupted leg support surface with the seat of the chair. The chair is thereby converted to a chaise lounge. When the footstool is retracted, the intermediate panel is stored behind the base panel.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1991Date of Patent: December 8, 1992Assignee: The Berkline CorporationInventors: Frank M. Re, James O. Williams

Patent number: 5104182Abstract: A backrest section of a unitary sofa, or of a unit of a modular sofa arrangement, is movable between its upright position and an operative position where it overlies the seat to provide a table and/or armrest accessible to sofa occupants on either side thereof. A linkage mechanism comprising a pair of links is mounted to either side of the movable backrest section and includes an opposed recess and detent which snap engage for frictionally retaining the table in the open, substantially horizontal position. The links are pivotally connected to anchor plates fixedly secured to vertical support mebers mounted in the sofa frame.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1991Date of Patent: April 14, 1992Assignee: The Berkline CorporationInventors: Glen L.
