  • Patent number: 5639232
Abstract: A gas burner for an open top stove is provided that generally includes three sections that can be separated from one another: a burner body, a burner head, and a drip cover. Forming the bottom of the burner and connected to a gas source is the burner body, which is generally donut-shaped and has an open-topped channel for carrying gas. Seated atop the burner body is the burner head, which is also donut-shaped and includes an open bottomed, internal gas channel that communicates with the open-topped channel of the burner body. The burner head includes two adjacent rows of flame ports that encircle an outer peripheral surface of the burner head and communicate with the internal gas channel. The flame ports of an upper of the two rows are smaller than the flame ports of the lower row. The burner head also includes a third row of flame ports encircling an upper inner peripheral surface of the burner head around the central void.

  • Patent number: 5633168
Abstract: continuous flow analysis system measures the cholesterol distribution among different lipoprotein classes in a blood sample. A blood plasma sample is separated into different lipoprotein classes by single vertical spin density gradient ultracentrifugation. The sample is then introduced in a continuous succession into a reagent stream which flows continuously through a detector. A sensor detects the end of the sample in a sample stream before it is introduced into said reagent stream. A wash solution is introduced into the sample stream in response to detection of the end of said sample. The wash solution back flows through the sample stream into the sample container to wash any residue and/or air bubbles from the sample stream. After a predetermined time period, the sample stream is closed and the process is repeated for the next sample.

  • Patent number: 5632219
Abstract: A multiple-spool waterski tow rope retriever for reeling in a plurality of waterski tow ropes either together or independently. The device may include a housing for outboard mounting on the back of a ski boat, or it may be mounted inboard whereby the tow ropes would extend through holes in the transom of the boat. A motor drives a driveshaft inside a plurality of tow rope spools. The motor may drive the shaft directly or indirectly via a gear, chain, or belt apparatus. The driveshaft transfers rotational power to each spool through a fluid drive apparatus. For each spool, a sleeve is immovably mounted around the shaft within the center section of the spool. The spools rotate around the sleeve and shaft on bearings and are held in place longitudinally by thrust washers. A sealed void surrounding the sleeve within the center of the spool is filled with a high viscosity oil or other high viscosity fluid. When the shaft rotates at high RPM's, the high viscosity oil transfers the rotational force to the spool.
