    Abstract: A piece of media, apparatus and method are provided wherein the piece of media may store the audio data as well as equalizer settings that permit the audio data to be equalized. In one embodiment, the piece of media stores equalized audio data and the equalizer settings. In accordance with the invention, in one embodiment, the equalizer-effect piece of media permits the audio data on the piece of media to be equalized even when the audio data player does not include an equalizer. In another embodiment, the equalizer-effect piece of media includes raw audio data and equalizer settings and permits an external equalizer to play equalized audio data without needing to set the equalizer. In a preferred embodiment, the piece of media may be compact disk.

    Abstract: A method for preventing veisalgia wherein an extract is prepared from artichoke and sarsaparilla containing a complex of polyphenols, flavonoids, and phytosterols. According to a preferred method, a dose of 1260 mg of extract is orally administered to a person prior to consuming alcohol. Subsequent to alcohol consumption another 1260 mg of extract is administered. The 1260 mg dose is adequate for most persons, is not critical, and can be scaled to a person's weight. The method as described results in complete elimination of veisalgia in more than 80% of individuals. As an alternate embodiment, the first three 420 mg quantities can be administered during consumption of alcohol. A further alternate embodiment provides an additional dose of 420 mg every hour during drinking after a period exceeding 4 hours, followed by the final dose of three 420 mg quantities at the cessation of alcohol consumption.

    Abstract: A method wherein a thermal gradient over a substrate enhances Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) at low pressures. An upper heat source is positioned above the substrate and a lower heat source is positioned below the substrate. The upper and lower heat sources are operated to raise the substrate temperature to 400-700° and cause a heat gradient of 100-200° C. between the upper and lower heat sources. This heat gradient causes an increase in the deposition rate for a given reactant gas flow rate and chamber pressure. The preferred parameters for implementation of the present invention for poly crystalline silicon deposition include the temperature of the upper heat source 100-200° C. above the lower heat source, a substrate temperature in the range of 400-700° C., a reactant gas pressure between 250 and 1000 mTorr, and a gas flow rate of 200-800 sccm. The substrate is rotated, with 5 RPM being a typical rate.

The electron beam column comprises an electron gun, an accelerating region, scanning deflectors, focusing lenses, secondary electron detectors and an asymmetrical detector optics assembly. The detector optics assembly comprises a field-free tube, asymmetrical with respect to the electron optical axis; the asymmetry can be introduced by offsetting the field-free tube from the electron optical axis or by chamfering the end of the tube. In other embodiments the detector optics assembly comprises a field-free tube and a voltage contrast plate, either or both of which are asymmetrical with respect to the electron optical axis.

The memory array is configured to allow simultaneous access for data input, normalization, and cross-correlation and defect detection.     Abstract: An electron optics assembly for a multi-column electron beam inspection tool comprises a single accelerator structure and a single focus electrode mounting plate for all columns; the other electron optical components are one per column and are independently alignable. The accelerator structure comprises first and final accelerator electrodes with a set of accelerator plates in between; the first and final accelerator plates have an aperture for each column and the accelerator plates have a single aperture such that the electron optical axes for all columns pass through the single aperture. Independently alignable focus electrodes are attached to the focus electrode mounting plate, allowing each electrode to be aligned to the electron optical axis of its corresponding column. There is one electron gun per column, mounted on the top of the single accelerator structure. In other embodiments, the electron guns are mounted to a single gun mounting plate positioned above the accelerator structure.

    Abstract: An improved electrode for use with an endoscope, used for simultaneously vaporizing, coagulating and cutting of tissue. The construction of the electrodes is such that the connecting end joins an elongated stem having a conductive center conductor, a majority of which is enclosed by a cover constructed from nonconductive material for the purpose of insulating the conductor from the endoscope conduit, telescope and resectoscope sheath. The cover may have an insulated saddle shaped extension for use in guiding a telescope. The conductor divides into two insulated conductive branches, and then exits the insulative cover forming a loop at a distal end of the electrode. The distal end portion of the conductive loop may angle away from the axial direction of the electrode, and the loop is completed with a straight conductive portion upon which an electrode tip is rotatably mounted.

    Abstract: A method of using nanostructured chemicals as alloying agents for the reinforcement of polymer microstructures, including polymer coils, domains, chains, and segments, at the molecular level. Because of their tailorable compatibility with polymers, nanostructured chemicals can be readily and selectively incorporated into polymers by direct blending processes. The incorporation of a nanostructured chemical into a polymer favorably impacts a multitude of polymer physical properties. Properties most favorably improved are time dependent mechanical and thermal properties such as heat distortion, creep, compression set, shrinkage, modulus, hardness and abrasion resistance. In addition to mechanical properties, other physical properties are favorably improved, including lower thermal conductivity, fire resistance, and improved oxygen permeability.

    Abstract: A method for determining the areas of resin to be cured in an optical stereolithography process for rapid prototyping using sequential laser curing of layers of a resin having a selected thickness to produce a desired shape of cured resin. The method includes the steps of generating a computer model of desired shape and dividing the model into layers of thickness equal to the thickness of the layers each defining an area of resin to be cured. A set of layers including and sequentially adjacent an intermediate layer is selected and the areas in the intermediate layer of resin which would be oversized by laser curing of layers later in the curing sequence is determined. The 2-D layer data used to build a 3-D model is modified to compensate for the oversizing and the steps repeated by sequentially selecting sets of layers to include substantially all of the layers as the intermediate layer.

    Abstract: The invention discloses ruthenium alkylidene complexes of the type (PCy3)(L)Cl2Ru(CHPh), where L is a triazolylidene ligand of the general formula: These catalysts have been found to be considerably more active for olefin metathesis at elevated temperatures than the parent catalyst (PCy3)2Cl2Ru(CHPh)(2). For example, complex 14 (L=1,3,4-triphenyl-4.5-dihydro-1H-triazol-5-ylidene) is able to catalyze the ring-closing metathesis of substituted dienes to give tetra-substituted cyclic olefins in good yield. In addition, this complex demonstrates the analogous stability towards oxygen and moisture exhibited by ruthenium alkylidene 2.

    Abstract: Chelating ligand precursors for the preparation of olefin metathesis catalysts are disclosed. The resulting catalysts are air stable monomeric species capable of promoting various metathesis reactions efficiently, which can be recovered from the reaction mixture and reused. Internal olefin compounds, specifically beta-substituted styrenes, are used as ligand precursors. Compared to terminal olefin compounds such as unsubstituted styrenes, the beta-substituted styrenes are easier and less costly to prepare, and more stable since they are less prone to spontaneous polymerization. Methods of preparing chelating-carbene metathesis catalysts without the use of CuCl are disclosed. This eliminates the need for CuCl by replacing it with organic acids, mineral acids, mild oxidants or even water, resulting in high yields of Hoveyda-type metathesis catalysts.

    Abstract: A charge particle optical column capable of being used in a high throughput, mutli-column, multi-beam electron beam lithography system is disclosed herein. The column has the following properties: purely electrostatic components; small column footprint (20 mm square); multiple, individually focused charge particle beams; telecentric scanning of all beams simultaneously on a wafer for increased depth of field; and conjugate blanking of the charged particle beams for reduced beam blur. An electron gun is disclosed that uses microfabricated field emission sources and a microfabricated aperture-deflector assembly. The aperture-deflector assembly acts as a perfect lens in focusing, steering and blanking a multipicity of electron beams through the back focal plane of an immersion lens located at the bottom of the column. Beam blanking can be performed using a gating signal to decrease beam blur during writing on the wafer.
