    Abstract: A predistortion linearized amplifier system that uses analog polynomial based predistortion is disclosed. An analog polynomial function generator receives polynomial parameter updates from a polynomial parameter generator. The polynomial parameter generator uses a combination of analog and digital signal processing to create the parameter updates. This processing is performed on input signal amplitude, detected using analog circuits, and RF coupled samples of the input signal, and the output signal. By using a combination of analog and digital signal processing means, digital processing can be performed at sub-Nyquist rates, significantly reducing the cost of digital circuits. Also, since the predistortion modulation signal is created with an analog function generator, time correlating delay is minimized reducing circuit costs.

    Abstract: A pilot system and method is disclosed that increases the rate of convergence of the second loop alignment control in a feed forward amplifier. Both a pilot generation and detection system and search algorithm controlling the alignment are disclosed. By measuring the frequency of the generated pilot, phase information regarding the second loop cancellation transfer function can be inferred. Changes in the pilot frequency as the search algorithm makes steps in the second loop alignment indicate errors in the direction of the search. Using this pilot frequency measurement along with the existing log-power measurement of the residual pilot power improves the convergence speed because fewer steps will be made to reach the optimal alignment setting.

    Abstract: An improved radio frequency receiver and method enabling the dynamic range of a radio frequency receiver to be extended are disclosed. In the receiver system, the effective received channel power is a combination of the wanted signal level, the noise floor and any in band spurious signals generated from blocking signals present at the input to the receiver system. When this total effective channel power is known, the front end gain is optimized by adaptively minimizing the total effective channel power. Since the wanted input signal power does not vary with the receiver gain setting, this optimizes the noise figure and input intercept point for the presented input signal conditions.

    Abstract: A laser beam display includes at least a first and second plurality of laser beam sources, each of which may preferably be an array of semiconductor lasers, providing a plurality of laser beams in an optical path so as to reflect off of reflective facets of a movable reflector and illuminate a display screen. In a color display, each column of the laser array corresponds to a separate primary color. The separate rows of each array correspond to independently activated but simultaneously driven scan lines to be illuminated by the laser beam scanning apparatus. The plural laser beam arrays subdivide the width of the screen into smaller scan segments to increase the scanning angle or increase the horizontal scanning speed of the apparatus. Tilted facets illuminate different vertical sections of the screen with the laser beams as the reflector rotates. A scan format employing simultaneously illuminated diagonal scan tiles provides optimal use of the plural laser beam arrays.
