  • Patent number: 5443077
Abstract: When performing the method a sensor (1) is used with a coil (15) integrated in a coil circuit. In the coil circuit a magnetic field is generated so that mutual induction can develop between the coil circuit and the surroundings of the sensor (1). The magnetic field in the coil circuit is detected intermittently, and a developed mutual induction is detected as a change of the magnetic field. The position of the sensor is monitored on the basis of said intermittent detection of the magnetic field in the coil circuit. The change of the magnetic field in the coil circuit can be detected in several ways. If the magnetic field is varying, the change may for example be detected as a change of the peak value of the voltage across or the current intensity through the coil circuit or be detected as a phase shift of one of these parameters. The method is used especially to ensure that calibration of the sensor (1) is performed only when the sensor (1) is located in a related calibration chamber (24).

  • Patent number: 5412511
Abstract: A holding device for an interior mirror (2) in vehicles which allows an adjustment of the height at which this interior (2) mirror is installed. A holding arm (1), which bears the interior mirror (2) at a ball-and-socket joint (1a), is fitted as rotating around a swivelling axis (4) in an oblique position, which runs through a pivot (3), which in turn is fitted by means of a spacing element (1b) at a certain distance (5) from the holding arm (1). The pivot (3) can either be fitted to the spacing element (1b) of the holding arm (1) or to a holding base (6) with which the whole device is fixed in the vehicle. In order to lock the height of the interior mirror (2) a manually operated locking device (7) or an automatic locking device (8), which links the holding arm (1) or the spacing element (1b) to the holding base (6), is used.

  • Patent number: 5340317
Abstract: The present invention is a real-time interactive conversational apparatus which operates by playing to a child a prerecorded conversation stored on a multi-track media such as magnetic tape. The system conversations are programmed according to a decision-tree logic which allows complex conversations to be developed, branching between the various tracks of the media being accomplished without the aid of a microprocessor or any coding in the conversation source signal. The information is stored on each track in a plurality of reproducible information segments, which contain interrogatory messages and associated multiple choice responses, responsive messages, informational messages, and combinations thereof. The responsive messages contained on the tracks are related in real-time and content to particular interrogatory messages, and correspond with multiple choice selectable responses.
