  • Patent number: 5176847
Abstract: Water-in-oil emulsions of the type found in petroleum oil refineries and other industrial operations are demulsified by adding thereto an effective amount of a mixture of these components comprising1. Tannin or amino methylated tannin2. A cationic polymer or blend of such polymers3. An alkoxylated triamino methane or other polyfunctional amines or hydroxy compounds.

  • Patent number: 4760100
Abstract: The preparation of isocyanurate foams from a recycled polyethylene terephthalate polyol modified with alkoxylated amines and alkoxylated amides is disclosed. These modified foams exhibit improved fluorocarbon solubility, and do not cause the resultant polyols to be monofunctional, but rather difunctional. The foams may be used for building, roofing and sheathing applications.

  • Patent number: 4404120
Abstract: Hydroxy-containing amine complexes useful as catalysts for the trimerization of isocyanates and the preparation of urethanes from alcohols and isocyanates, are prepared in good yield by reacting an amine with an epoxide in the presence of water and an aldehyde having no alpha protons, and then recovering the desired complex from the reaction mixture. Also provided are new rigid polyurethane cellular products having a high content of isocyanurate linkages, superior heat distortion temperatures and insulating properties which are obtained by reacting a polyol with a polyisocyanate in the presence of the aforementioned new amine complex catalysts.
