Patent number: 5550474Abstract: The device uses a sensor probe in which a plurality of electrolyte level sensor coils and/or specific gravity stratification indicators are stacked vertically in the walls of a hollow electrically insulating and chemically nonreactive elongated probe housing such that the sensor coils never come into contact with the electrolyte. Balanced transformers or series resonant coils are used to sense changes in electrolyte level and/or changes in specific gravity at various respective levels to indicate stratification of electrolyte. The fields of the sensors are changed by the amount of electrolyte in the area of the sensor coils. These changes operate to produce signals that are read as digital or analog outputs.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1985Date of Patent: August 27, 1996Inventor: Ernest A. Dahl

Patent number: 5543800Abstract: A radar decoder circuit for converting NRZL Data to radar video data which s supplied to a radar video display screen. The radar video circuit includes an Erasable Programmable Logic Device which decodes incoming NRZL data to identify a frame sync having twenty four data bits. When the frame sync is identified the location of sixteen bits of synchro data is also determined. The synchro data is then latched into a latch within the Erasable Programmable Logic Device for processing by a Digital-to-Synchro Converter. Control signals for effecting a transfer of the synchro data to the Digital-to-Synchro Converter are provided by enable and latch signal generating circuit within the Erasable Programmable Logic Device. The Digital-to-Synchro Converter converts the digital synchro data to analog synchro signals which are supplied to the radar video display allowing the display to indicate the direction the radar from which the NRZL data is received is pointing.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1995Date of Patent: August 6, 1996Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventors: George T. Patent number: 5539786Abstract: A digital circuit comprising a pair of D Flip-Flops which synchronize an oming NRZ.sub.-- L serial data stream to an external ten megahertz clock signal. The combination of a third D Flip-Flop and an EXCLUSIVE-NOR gate generates a clear pulse whenever a change of state occurs within the synchronized serial data stream. This clear pulse is supplied to a ten state state machine resetting the state machine to state S0. When the state machine transition to state S4 the state machine generates an enable signal which is supplied to a toggle Flip-Flop enabling the Flip-Flop allowing the Flip-Flop to change state. The ten megahertz clock signal then clocks the toggle Flip-Flop causing the Flip-Flop to change state. At state S9 the state machine again provides an enable signal to the toggle Flip-Flop enabling the toggle Flip-Flop which allows the ten megahertz clock signal to change the state of the output of the toggle Flip-Flop.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1995Date of Patent: July 23, 1996Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventor: Andrew H. Patent number: 5539411Abstract: A multistatic radar signature measurement apparatus comprising a curvilin sensor array of photonic sensors which are used to measure the radar cross section of a target. The array of photonic sensors provide for the simultaneous collection of target scattered measurement data over an approximately semi-spherical field of view. Laser light passing through each photonic sensor of the sensor array is modulated by the photonic sensor in direct proportion to the strength/intensity of scattered waves from the target as the scattered waves pass through each photonic sensor of the sensor array. The modulated light from each sensor of the sensor array is then transmitted to an optical switching network which samples the optical signals from the array. The sampled optical signals are next provided to an RF receiver which converts the sampled optical signals to equivalent RF electrical signals.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 1995Date of Patent: July 23, 1996Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventors: Wai-Mao Yu, Donald P.
