  • Patent number: 7771315
Abstract: A method for the control of an automatic transmission during a change of ratio procedure, wherein the synchronous speed of rotation (SD) for the new transmission gear-stage lies under the no-load speed of rotation (LD) of a drive motor which can be connected to the transmission and wherein a gear-stage engagement actuator for the engagement of a new transmission gear-stage is then activated, when the transmission input speed of rotation (GED) has reached a predetermined speed of rotation window (F), which window also encompasses the synchronous speed of rotation (SD). In order to make such a shifting method more comfortable than previously, the invented method deviates from that procedure based on downshifting, which has been customary up to this time and rather proceeds in a upshifting mode.

  • Patent number: 7771301
Abstract: A pressure supply between a variator shaft and a pressure chamber (6) for the axial displacement of the mobile disc of a pair of conic pulleys of a continuously adjustable automatic transmission, which includes a longitudinal borehole (7) and radial boreholes (8, 9) in a variator shaft (1), as well as a radial borehole (10) in the locating disc. For each pressure chamber (6) there are at least two piercing radial boreholes made in the variator shaft, which are axially shifted from each other and rotated approximately 90° between themselves. The oil can run over the longitudinal borehole of the variator shaft and over the radial boreholes through the radial borehole in a locating disc of a pressure chamber (6), in such a way that the oil flow is always ensured regardless of the axial position or of the tangential location of the locating disc regarding the variator shaft.

  • Patent number: 7770676
Abstract: A method for operating a parallel hybrid powertrain (1) of a vehicle having one internal combustion engine (2) and one electric motor (3). The electric motor is located in the drivetrain between an output and the internal combustion engine. Between the internal combustion engine and the electric motor, a frictionally engaged shifting element is provided, while between the electric motor and the output, a starting element (6) having a hydrodynamic torque converter (6A) and a converter lock-up clutch (6B) is disposed. A target output torque to be applied to the output is dependent on the slippage of the starting element. During a starting phase of the internal combustion engine via the electric motor, an input torque produced by the electric motor is directed at least in part via the torque converter and in part via the converter lock-up clutch.

  • Patent number: 7753348
Abstract: A tray assembly is provided for improved gas/liquid contact when used in a large chemical process tower, resulting in better performance. Each tray assembly has two levels of tray decks and associated downcomers. Tray decks provide gas/liquid contact for mass transfer and the downcomers are required to clarify the liquid before entering the tray below. A novel downcomer configuration is provided for use in multipass trays. The shape of downcomer bottom chord is designed to allow for liquid to travel across any part of each tray deck at a similar distance between the inlet and the outlet weir. As a result, liquid on the tray deck travels in plug flow pattern. Benefits include a higher Murphree tray efficiency due to minimum liquid back-mixing, as well as minimum local entrainment due to uniform froth height.

The flange-edges are each molded with ridges (13, 15) and grooves (14, 16) that nest ridge-within-groove with those of the abutting edges, for absorbing shock. The walls (1-4;71-74) are hinged together edge-to-edge, and at their edges rise in steps (23,24,33.34,43,44) to a central plinth (22,32,42). The steps (23,24,33,34,43,44) of adjacent walls abut one another within the erected case for shock absorption, and each wall (1-4;71-74) is strengthened by circular recesses (25-28,35-38,45-49) of reducing diameter with depth, let into its plinth (22,32.42).
