Abstract: A device and process for separating liquid and gas phases in a flowstream containing a liquefied gas or supercritical fluid under pressure mixed with a liquid. A splitter vessel separates the liquid from gas phases and transfers liquid to a collection container while conducting the gas phase out of the splitter. Separation of liquid phase out of the flowstream is provided without additional pressure schemes or solvent extractions imposed on the stream.

Abstract: A splitter for a pressurized primary flowstream of a mobile phase is provided. The splitter comprises a first splitting stage that divides the primary flowstream between a major split flowstream and a minor split flowstream by means of a first and a second restrictive flow element; a first dilution stage that combines a dilution flow source with the minor split flowstream to create a diluted minor flowstream; a second splitting stage that divides the diluted minor flowstream between a secondary major diluted flowstream and a secondary minor diluted flowstream by means of a third restrictive element in the secondary minor diluted flow stream; and a second dilution stage wherein a conditioning flow source conditions the secondary minor diluted flow stream after the third restrictive element prior to outlet of the secondary minor diluted flowstream from the splitter.

Abstract: A low energy method of pyrolysis of rubber or other hydrocarbon material is provided. The hydrocarbon material is heated while maintaining a vacuum, using a clay catalyst. In an additional embodiment, the temperature of the reaction chamber and corresponding fuel input is varied either over time or spatially within the reaction chamber, to take advantage of the exothermic properties of the reaction. With the method of the present invention, a higher quality solid reaction product can be achieved, as well as a liquid having reduced polyaromatic hydrocarbons and oxidized organic contaminants.

Abstract: Novel fusion proteins comprising PP14 are disclosed. The fusion proteins retain the immunoregulatory function of native PP14, but offer significant advantages. Methods for using the fusion proteins, and sequence encoding the same in the treatment of immune system diseases and disorders are therefore also disclosed, as are methods for recombinant production of the present fusion proteins.
Abstract: This invention discloses pyrrolo pyrimidine compounds, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts, solvates and prodrugs thereof, of the following formula (3):
These compounds are useful in therapeutically and/or prophylactically treating patients with cancer by inhibiting receptor tyrosine kinases and/or dihydrofolate reductase and/or thymidylate synthase. Methods of using these compounds, are also disclosed.
Abstract: In some embodiments, alternate sources of aluminum or calcium are provided in various ways including the desired compounds. The further object of the present invention contemplate in situ creation of the compound in interest in fresh concrete and as a slurry which can be employed in remediation of existing concrete structures. A method of resisting corrosion in concrete containing metal elements is provided. It includes introducing into fresh concrete, containing metal elements, at least one compound capable of sequestering chloride ions. The method may also involve employing a compound which is capable of establishing a corrosion resistant oxide layer on the metal reinforcing elements. The invention also includes certain compounds which may be employed in the method as well as concrete structures containing the compounds.

Abstract: Novel sulfatase inhibitor/estrogen receptor blocker compounds useful in the treatment of estrogen dependent illnesses are disclosed. The compounds generally comprise a sulfamate moiety and an aromatic, estrogen receptor blocker moiety. Methods for synthesizing these compounds and using them in the therapeutic and/or prophylactic treatment of an estrogen-dependent disease are also disclosed.
Abstract: Magnetorheological (MR) fluids, dispersions of magnetically soft particles in fluids (gases, liquids, or semi-solids such as greases), are disclosed. The present invention uses the initial steps of a sol-gel process to assist in preparation of MR fluids that have significantly enhanced stability and redispersibility, without the use of ceramic particles such as silica or bridging polymers such as PVP.

Abstract: The present invention provides a process of preparing a novel carboxylic acid derivative of dextran. In particular, in the present invention, carboxylated dextran containing at least one carboxylic acid is reduced to remove all or substantially all reducing groups.
Abstract: This invention discloses compounds, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, useful in therapeutically and/or prophylactically treating patients with an illness. Such illnesses include cancer, and secondary infections caused by Pneumocystis carinii and Toxoplasmosis gondii in immunocompromised patients. The compounds themselves, methods of making these compounds, and methods of using these compounds are all disclosed.

Abstract: Methods of making low molecular weight methylene acceptors are provided. The methylene acceptors are prepared by reacting a polyhydric phenol with an aromatic olefinic compound in the presence of an acid catalyst, and then further reacting the products of the first reaction with an N-methylol lactam derivative. Derivatives made by the above method, as well as rubber compositions using these derivatives are also provided.
Abstract: A method of determining the presence and quantity of wood treatment substance (pesticides, water repellants, dimension stabilizers and the like) on wood is provided. The wood treatment substance is combined with a fluorescent material and applied to wood. A light beam is impinged on the wood, and reflected light measured by a spectral device. Color saturation level of the reflected light is determined with a microprocessor. From this measurement a quantity of wood treatment substance on the wood can then be determined.
Abstract: A process for the preparation of diglycidylether of alkoxylated resorcinol using novel catalysts is disclosed. In particular, it has been found that antimony, indium and tellurium halides are effective catalysts for preparation of the diglycidylether of alkoxylated resorcinol.
Abstract: A wood treatment material having a synergistic combination of insecticides including boron-containing compounds and synthetic pyrethroids, is provided. This combination is shown to be especially effective in providing resistance to insect attack when wood is treated with this combination. Resistance to attack by Formosan termites, in particular, is provided, in a cost-effective manner. Also provided is wood treated by this combination, and a method of treatment for composite wood.
