Abstract: The color filter according to the present invention contains black matrix formed by polyimide, which contains light shielding pigments such as carbon black, triiron tetraoxide, etc. instead of the black matrix used in the past, which is formed by metal thin film such as chromium on glass substrate. Epoxy type silane coupling agent is mixed with polyimide precursor composition, and this is coated on a glass substrate and then imidized. Thus, the color filter is provided with black matrix having high bonding strength with glass substrate.
Abstract: A phase shift circuit having an input terminal for receiving an input signal having a sinusoidal waveform and an output terminal for providing an output signal that has a sinusoidal waveform and is adjustable in phase relative to the input signal, comprises a bipolar transistor having a base connected to the input terminal, an emitter at which it provides a signal at the same frequency as the input signal and in phase therewith, and a collector at which it provides a signal at the same frequency as the input signal and out of phase therewith, the circuit also comprises a capacitor connector between the collector and the output terminal, a diode connected between the emitter and the output terminal, and a resistor network for biasing the diode to adjust the conductivity of the diode.
Abstract: Dispensing machines are described which are suitable for use in a cold environment. The machines have a plurality of storage locations for supporting articles to be dispensed, each of which includes an electrical heating element. The heating elements can be energized individually and the heat generated by an energized heating element causes an article supported at the respective storage location to be released.
Abstract: In a color filter or a monochromatic filter (4) to be used by bonding to imaging sensor (1), at least two resin layers (A) and (B) adjacent to each other on transparent substrate and having different refractive indices are furnished, and the boundary surface of these resin layers (A) and (B) is formed in such curved surface that incident light (7) is converged on each of the light receiving units (2) of imaging sensor. Therefore, light converging effect can be obtained even on a solid-state imaging device of bonding type, and the sensitivity can be increased.
Abstract: An apparatus for inspecting sheet metal parts includes a computer for comparing a master representation to an inspected part. A part is scanned by passing the part in front of a computer vision system and an approximation of the part is thereby generated for comparison with the stored representation of a master part. The comparison includes checking for distance tolerances and proper feature placement of the scanned part and an inspection report for each inspected part is generated, indicating part acceptance status. Part tolerances may be varied for different parts and a library of parts may be consulted to automatically select an appropriate master part for comparison purposes.

Abstract: An icebreaking ship has a hull including a forward part and an aft part and a screw arrangement in the aft part of the ship. The screw arrangement is designed for propulsion of the ship in the forward direction and is turnable substantially in a horizontal plane, whereby the screw arrangement serves for steering the ship. The screw arrangement and the form of the hull of the ship are dimensioned and designed for allowing the ship to move in the aft direction in heavy ice conditions.
Abstract: Composite sync is separated from a video signal and integrated in order to produce a vertical control pulse. This pulse is then applied to the input of a one-shot multivibrator which provides an output essentially equal in duration to the time from the end of vertical sync to the start of the active picture, blanking the entire vertical interval with the exception of the vertical sync pulses. Optionally, a second one-shot multivibrator may be triggered at the horizontal sync rate and used to inhibit blanking during the times corresponding to equalizing, horizontal sync and color burst in order to preserve these legitimate parts of the signal. The first one-shot multivibrator may be replaced by a counter which counts at the horizontal rate and is reset by the vertical pulse. An increase in accuracy allows blanking of the period just before the vertical sync.
Abstract: A coded anti-theft system of the present invention employs a keyswitch board, a number of relays and timers, and a number of peripherals including a first sensing device, a second sensing device, a starting device, an indicating device, and an alarming device. Aggressive activity is sensed by the sensing devices to sound the alarming device. The system is set with a code by a user, and only the user who enters the correct code can enable the starting device to start the vehicle.
Abstract: A vacuum toilet system comprises a small number of toilet bowls, a sewer, a small number of normally closed sewer valves connecting the toilet bowls respectively to the sewer, a sewage collecting tank in open communication with the sewer, a vacuum generator having a suction side in open communication with the sewer and operative to generate a partial vacuum in the tank and sewer, and a flush initiator associated with each toilet bowl for generating a toilet flushing impulse. A control unit is responsive to a toilet flushing impulse generated by the flush initiator associated with a given toilet bowl to cause the sewer valve connecting that toilet bowl to the sewer to open and the vacuum generator to operate for a predetermined time. In this fashion, a partial vacuum is generated in the tank and sewer of a level that depends on the free vacuum volume of the system.
Abstract: An icing system is disclosed that has an insulating layer of wetsuit rubber, with a nylon pouch sewn onto it. The nylon pouch is divided, depending on configuration, into two or three compartments by hook and loop fasteners that are used in strips to both close the flap of the pouch and divide it into the compartments as desired. The compartments are designed to hold standard sizes of resealable sandwich and freezer bags half filled with ice. The multiple compartments allow varying amounts of ice to be put around different areas of the same body part, make it flexible, and permit a maximum of mobility on the part of the user. The wetsuit rubber that is used as an outer insulator allows this icing system to use ice with maximum efficiency, and yet makes the system flexible, light weight, non-leaking and non-irritating, permitting maximum mobility on the part of the user.
Abstract: A method for forming metal parts from superplastic metal alloys uses axial compression of the blank starting material. A blank of the superplastic metal alloy is enclosed within a die press. The blank is generally tubular, although not necessarily circular, and has an aperture at each end. The ends of the blank are enclosed within correspondingly shaped sections of a cavity within the die press, while the center of the blank is disposed within a central cavity defining a desired shape of the metal part to be formed. Each end of the blank is then sealed with a ram or stop member, and the die press and blank are heated to a forming temperature that is within the superplastic temperature range of the metal alloy. Gas is supplied under pressure to the inside of the blank to produce an outward pressure urging the blank to deform outwardly within the central cavity of the die press.

Abstract: The invention relates to a measuring cell for analyzing solid granular or pulverous material, which measuring cell (1) is provided with an aperture (5) in the wall for a measuring window (6). Through the measuring window, the material fed in the measuring cell (1) can be analyzed according to the invention, so that inside the measuring cell (1) there is installed a feeder (10) in order to regulate the essentially continuous material flow passing through the measuring cell (1), and a guide member (8) in order to guide the material flow to pass by essentially near to the measuring window (6).
Abstract: Characteristics of a color encoder can be measured under the same condition as a practical operation without modifying the color encoder as a device under test. A test signal generator generates R, G and B component signals as test signals and they are applied simultaneously to the color encoder. The output amplitudes and/or output phases of the component signals from the test signal generator are adjusted such that the color encoder produces at least one of a luminance signal, an I-axis signal and a Q-axis signal in accordance with a measurement item.
Abstract: A circuit board comprises a substrate, a connector part, and a mounting mechanism attaching the connector part to the substrate at an edge thereof in a manner allowing forcible movement of the connector part relative to the substrate in a direction having a component perpendicular both to its edge and to a line normal to the substrate. When the substrate is held stationary relative to a connector part that is complementary to the first-mentioned connector part and is presented toward the first-mentioned connector part, the mounting mechanism can be employed to advance the first-mentioned connector part into engagement with the complementary connector part.
