  • Patent number: 5252912
Abstract: A detector for use on board an aircraft traveling along a path of movement to detect a power line comprises an antenna for sensing the electric field associated with the power line and producing an electric field signal, and a signal processor for receiving the electric field signal and generating a time-to-impact signal representative of the time for the aircraft to reach the power line if it continues on its path of movement. Sensors are used to determine the direction of the power line.

  • Patent number: 5250839
Abstract: A multi-layer leadframe according to this invention is formed by laminating on a leadframe body an insulating layer and an electrically conductive layer in this order. The electrically conductive plate includes a planar portion and a given number of terminal portions extending therefrom, said planar portion extending across said insulating layer laminated on said leadframe body. The planar portion is made thinner than the terminal portions. A thin portion of this planar portion is formed by an etching technique, and at least a part of the terminal portions of the electrically conductive plate is fixedly connected with an inner lead of the leadframe body.

  • Patent number: 5246304
Abstract: A framing system is disclosed made of frame members and joint members. The frame members are of U-section and the ends are inserted into and imprisoned in the open ends of the joint members which are L-shaped, T-shaped, V-shaped, X-shaped or Y-shaped. The joint members are paired polystyrene mouldings which close together with a friction fit but which can be prised apart with a screwdriver. Assembled frames can be interconnected by link members inserted into the joint members. The linkage permits the construction of folding frames and boxes. Pictureframing, panelling, shopfitting and special exhibit work are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5243343
Abstract: A signal acquisition system using an ultra-wide time range digitizer with variable time interval data sampling and data storage includes signal conditioning and sampling stages, a digitizing stage for generating digital representations of a signal, and a memory for storing the digital representations. Timing circuitry controls sampling and digitizing which may be varied so as to acquire signals on linear, logarithmic, or other time bases. Signal compression may be obtained by digitizing information only when a desired change rate is observed. A display allows acquired signals to be displayed in linear, logarithmic or other manner.

  • Patent number: 5241182
Abstract: A precision electrostatic lens system is formed from lens electrodes having high precision inner bores by aligning said bores on a ceramic rod, inserting segmented glass spacers between adjacent electrodes, and brazing the combination together to provide a monolithic structure capable of maintaining accurate tolerances.

  • Patent number: 5237897
Abstract: The invention provides a bandmill having an endless loop of bandsaw blade which is automatically strained to a desired tension, and automatically driven at an accurate location or tracking position. The bandmill runs on a pair of spaced co-planar wheels, which are forced longitudinally apart to apply strain to the bandsaw. Actual saw strain is automatically detected by a force transducer within the strain mechanism, and the actual saw strain is automatically compared electronically with a desired saw strain. A servo-controller automatically adjusts distance between the wheels to vary force therebetween so that actual saw strain is varied to approach the desired saw strain. Also, actual tracking of the saw blade relative to the wheels is automatically sensed by sensors located adjacent the edge of the saw blade.

  • Patent number: 5234014
Abstract: A mechanical fuel control governor employs a flyweight assembly for lifting the spindle of a fuel valve and allowing fuel to be bypassed from a high pressure line. The spindle is rotated via a fluid coupling between the ball head and the drive spindle such that the valve spindle rotates at a fraction of the ball head speed and whereby valve clearance and spindle leakage is reduced without reduction in the speed of the ball head.

  • Patent number: 5233808
Abstract: The interior of a building having a framework composed of vertical structural elements and horizontal floor levels is constructed by installing prefabricated room units, each having walls and a ceiling, in the framework. The room units are sized and positioned so that a sound insulating air gap is formed between the ceiling of each room unit and the building framework.

  • Patent number: 5221111
Abstract: A skateboard accessory for attaching a stretchable handle member or one or more of a variety of such handles to a point near the center of the skateboard in a readily disconnectable manner that does not protrude from or take up space on the surface of the board. In a preferred embodiment, two thin discs of lightweight material connect together through a hole near the center of the skateboard and present one mating part of a quick release snap-in connector to the upper side of the board. A second mating part of the quick release snap-in connector having the opposite gender is attached to a stretchable strap or tube handle member, which may take many forms, including an elongate member of rubber-like material 10 to 30 inches (0.25 to 0.76 meters) long and having a tether at its other end for attachment to the rider or the rider's clothing.
