  • Patent number: 5917383
Abstract: The compact voltage controlled ring oscillator includes two variable delay gates (VDGs). Each input port of one variable delay gate is connected to the output port of the other variable delay gate to form a feedback loop. A control interface receives an input voltage control signal (VCON), and generates a limited and buffered voltage control signal VX, which is provided to each of the VDGs to generate VDG bias currents which are limited and monotonic with VCON. Each VDG comprises a fixed bias differential transconductance gain stage (GM1), a variable bias differential transconductance hysteresis feedback stage (GM2), and a variable bias voltage follower stage. The combination of delay control from variable hysteresis and variable voltage follower output resistance provides a compact, low power ring oscillator VCO, with over an octave of tuning range.

  • Patent number: 5907322
Abstract: A system for bookmarking viewer selected TV broadcast events and displaying a set of associated internet locations or website hotlinks, comprising the selection of a set of broadcast events using a remote control, and storing a set of event-identifier data associated with the set of selected broadcast events in an activity table, and then generating a set of associated internet locations or website hotlinks by comparing the set of event identifiers with a database of TV schedules, events and company information. The generated set of associated internet locations or website hotlinks can then be used by viewer for access to and display of the selected internet locations associated with the set of selected broadcast events.

  • Patent number: 5869988
Abstract: A write driver for an inductive head of a magnetic storage medium that induces a faster write current switch across an inductive head element of a magnetic storage medium comprising having a pair of switches, S.sub.1 and S.sub.2, coupled to a pair of current sources, I.sub.1 and I.sub.2, wherein first switch S.sub.1 is coupled to first current source I.sub.1 and controlled by a first current switch control signal CLK. Second switch S.sub.2 is coupled to second current source I.sub.2 and controlled by second current switch control signal /CLK. First switch S.sub.1 is also controlled by first current control signal CLK to maximize rail to rail voltage swing. Similarly, second switch S.sub.2 is also controlled by second current control signal /CLK. In an alternative embodiment, a current booster is coupled to each current source to boost the write current to offset the otherwise decrease to write current due to damping resistor R.sub.
