Patent number: 6817225Abstract: A vapor trap for detecting VOCs includes a housing, having a first end portion, a second end portion and at least one opening for receiving gas vapor. The housing is at least partially buried in ground with a vapor containment mechanism detachably connected to the first end portion of the housing. The vapor containment mechanism can be removed and replaced with a vapor sampling mechanism. An organic vapor analyzer can be connected in fluid relationship to the vapor sampling mechanism to measure VOCs. Optionally, a vacuum pump can be utilized to draw vapor into the vapor trap and then subsequently into the organic vapor analyzer. There can be a first selector valve located between the vapor sampling mechanism and the vacuum pump and a second selector valve located between the vapor sampling mechanism and the organic vapor analyzer. A preferred organic vapor analyzer is a photo-ionization detector.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2003Date of Patent: November 16, 2004Assignee: PerTect Detectors, Inc.Inventors: Mark Kevin Boyd, Yale Lynn Clark

Patent number: 6814407Abstract: A lumbar support device has a seat frame, a pair of brackets connected to opposite sided of the seat frame, a pair of flexible members connected to the pair of brackets in such a manner as to respectively form a pair of center sections across the seat frame, and an actuator assembly operatively connected to each one of the flexible members. Each one of the flexible members preferably has a pair of levers on opposite sides of the center sections that rotate about the brackets. In operation, the actuator assembly selectively bows the center portions of the flexible members. The actuator assembly preferably includes a reversible gear and a pair of bowden cables that move one pair of levers when the reversible gear is rotated clockwise and move the other pair of levers when the reversible gear is rotated counter-clockwise.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2002Date of Patent: November 9, 2004Assignee: L & P Property Management CompanyInventor: Donald David Mundell

Patent number: 6719547Abstract: A screw rotor device has a housing with an inlet port and an outlet port, a male rotor, and a female rotor. The male rotor has a pair of helical threads with a phase-offset aspect, and the female rotor has a corresponding pair of helical grooves. The female rotor counter-rotates with respect to the male rotor and each of the helical grooves respectively intermeshes in phase with each of the helical threads. The phase-offset aspect of the helical threads is formed by a pair of teeth bounding a toothless sector. The arc angle of the toothless sector is a least twice the arc angle that subtends either one of the teeth. The helical grooves have a radially narrowing axial width at the periphery of the female rotor. The male and female rotors may include a buttress thread profile and may be limited in length to a single pitch.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2002Date of Patent: April 13, 2004Assignee: Imperial Research LLCInventor: Charles K. Heizer

Patent number: 6719548Abstract: A screw rotor device has a housing with an inlet port and an outlet port and at least one pair of rotors. The rotors each have an identical number of threads (N), a buttress thread profile with a diagonal line, and a length that is either approximately equal to or less than a single pitch of the threads. The threads of the rotors intermesh as the rotors counter-rotate with respect to each other. The rotors can be twins or each one of the rotors can have different profiles.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2002Date of Patent: April 13, 2004Assignee: Imperial Research LLCInventor: Charles K. Patent number: 6666068Abstract: A vapor trap for detecting VOCs includes a housing, having a first end portion, a second end portion and at least one opening for receiving gas vapor. The housing is at least partially buried in ground with a vapor containment mechanism detachably connected to the first end portion of the housing. The vapor containment mechanism can be removed after a predetermined time period and replaced with a vapor sampling mechanism. Patent number: 6595585Abstract: A lumbar support device has a seat frame, a pair of brackets connected to the seat frame, a spring assembly connected to the pair of brackets in such a manner as to form a center section traversing the seat frame and a pair of cantilevered ends on opposite sides of the center section, and an actuator assembly operatively connecting the cantilevered ends. The pair of brackets respectively provide a pair of fulcrums about which the cantilevered ends can rotate. In operation, the actuator assembly moves the cantilevered ends of the spring assembly to bow the center portion. The lumbar support device may also have a single cantilevered end.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2002Date of Patent: July 22, 2003Assignee: L&P Property Management CompanyInventor: Donald David Mundell

Patent number: 6592376Abstract: The invention is a golf training aid and a method of using the golf training aid. The face of the golf training aid is mirrored and permanently etched with several reference markings illustrating proper ball position, proper setup position, and proper club and body position at several points during the swing. The aid is marked for use with woods, irons, and the putter. In one embodiment of the invention, the reference markings include several lines and textual prompts. In another embodiment of the invention, the textual prompts and some of the lines are replaced by icons. The back of the golf training aid is flat, allowing it to sit flush on a practice surface, thus allowing the golfer to practice a golf swing with head down and eyes on the ball while simultaneously viewing his own image juxtaposed with markings for a proper swing. The aid is used by placing it on the practice surface along the target line and optionally securing it in position.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2000Date of Patent: July 15, 2003Inventor: Terry Carpenter
