Abstract: A seat for a substantially cylindrically-shaped pail having a pail opening, a pail lip adjacent the opening, and a hollow compartment inside the pail is disclosed. The seat comprises a platform for seating a person when the seat is mounted on the pail and grooves formed by walls on opposite sides of the platform. The grooves fit on the pail lip when the seat is in use. The seat has a width substantially less than a diameter of the pail opening so that a person seated on the platform can reach between the platform and the pail lip to remove or insert hand tools. The seat also fits into the pail when not in use. The seat has ribs on its bottom side for strengthening purposes.
Abstract: A gas burner assembly is provided which can be used in an unvented gas-fired fireplace and which closely approximates the look of a wood-fired fireplace. The gas burner assembly has a gas distribution chamber with a horizontal base, a vertical backwall, a top wall, a pair of opposing vertical side walls and a front wall. The front wall is a continuous surface having a vertical forward section and a substantially concave rear section. A small number of ports are disposed within the front wall to generate a small, evenly-distributed flame pattern across the front wall. A flame deflector plate located forward of the front wall to direct flame from the lower portion of the front wall upwardly. A large number of ports are disposed within the top wall to generate a large vertical flame pattern at the top wall.
Abstract: A golf club aligning aid is provided which allows a golfer to quickly improve his or her golf swing. The aligning aid can be a small strip of flexible material which can be disposed with a planar "flag" portion which is disposed perpendicular to the shaft of the club. This planar portion can be rotated about the shaft for proper alignment with respect to the leading edge of the face of the golf club head. Preferably, the aligning aid is attached on or near the handle of the club by being snugly wrapped around the shaft and attached to itself, such as by a hook and loop fastener. In one embodiment, the aligning aid also has a graphical design disposed on one end of the planar portion. The graphical design has a first axis which, when the aid is attached to the clubs is perpendicular to the shaft of the golf club and a second axis designed to be disposed parallel to the shaft of the club. The ratio of the length of the second axis to the length of the first axis is between about 0.25 and about 0.75.
Abstract: An apparatus for grinding a disc brake disc having opposite surfaces, the apparatus comprising: a free-standing support; a pair of rotors, at least one of which is a grinding rotor, the rotors attached to the support to extend in spaced relation at opposite sides of a disc for grinding at least one face of the disc, wherein at least one rotor is pivotally attached to the support and can be moved toward and away from the disc independent of the other rotors; adjustment means attached to the support to allow adjustment of the angle of at least one rotor in relation to a face of the disc; and drive means to rotate at least one of the rotors.
Abstract: A tool is provided which facilitates the installation of a standard garbage disposal unit. The tool allows the installer to set the hanger frame around the sink opening sleeve without having to hold down the sink opening sleeve while attaching the circular spring to the lower end of the sink opening sleeve. The tool of the invention has a lower portion with frustoconical side to facilitate the expansion of the circular spring. The tool also has an upper portion which is generally cylindrical and which fits up into the lowermost end of the sink opening sleeve. Snap-on devices, such as spring-and-ball detents, are disposed around the upper portion of the tool to engage the tool to the annular lip at the lowermost end of the sink opening sleeve.
Abstract: A kit for constructing an expandable pet climbing device is provided. The kit has a set of linear beams, corner members and end caps. The linear beams and the end caps are generally padded with a carpet-like material. The corner members have a body and outwardly-directed prongs disposed at right angles to adjacent prongs. Using the kit of the invention, a pet owner can custom assemble a pet climbing device of any of an infinite variety of shapes and sizes.
Abstract: An automatic chemical dispensing system is provided wherein a preselected quantity of liquid chemical drawn from one of several storage vessels is dispensed to one of several different receptacles using a single operating pump. The system includes a single remote controllable operating pump, remote controllable inlet and discharge valves, a single flow indicator and a liquid flush system. The system is controlled by a computerized controller. Piping linking the storage vessels, the pump and the receiving vessels is configured so that the operating pump draws a requested chemical from the appropriate storage vessel and pumps that chemical into a discharge header located between the pump and the receiving vessel. As the operating pump pumps the chemical into the discharge header, flow through the header is noted on the single flow indicator.
Abstract: A method for playing a card game is set forth wherein a dealer deals an initial hand of two cards to himself and each of a plurality of players. Depending upon the count of his initial hand, the dealer draws a third card, stands or exposes his hand; the third card altering the dealer's count. Then each player in succession opts to stand or take a third card, however drawing a third card is precluded where the dealer's initial hand has a count of 8 or 9 or, if drawn, the dealer's third card is a 9. Upon completion of the dealer's and players' play, each player's hand is resolved against the dealer's to determine wins, losses and ties. The game also provides for player side bets for non-zero ties.
Abstract: The invention relates to the heat treatment of continuously moving length of textile material in a treatment apparatus with at least two successive treatment zones by means of hot gas. After it has been heated, all of the exhaust gas from the first treatment zone is introduced into the second treatment zone as fresh gas. An exhaust gas branch stream drawn off at the end of the second treatment zone is afterburned. The exhaust gas branch stream which has been heated in this way first of all preheats the second exhaust gas branch stream coming from the second treatment zone, and before being discharged into the atmosphere the exhaust gas branch stream coming from the first treatment zone and the fresh air air heated. In this way extremely economic operation of the entire treatment apparatus is provided, with reliable purification and disposable of the exhaust gas.
Abstract: A slider assembly useful for attaching a brake caliper having at least one caliper aperture to an automotive-chassis is provided. The slider assembly provides a bearing interface which allows for a smooth and reliable transverse movement of the brake caliper for an extended period of time. The slider assembly includes a sleeve insert which is fitted into the caliper aperture, a slide pin which slides inside the sleeve insert, and a mount for moving the slide pin to the automotive chassis. The sliding which occurs between the sleeve insert and the slide pin provides the bearing interface.
Abstract: A bicycle frame for bicycles with an upper cross bar is provided wherein the upper cross bar does not injure the rider as the rider straddles the cross bar after a stop. The bicycle frame also has an upper cross bar comprising an inner moiety slidably disposed within an outer moiety such that the first end of the inner moiety is outside the outer moiety. A spring is disposed within the upper cross bar to urge the second end of the inner moiety away from the outer moiety. The front end of the upper cross bar is hinged to the head post and the rear end of the upper cross bar is slidably attached to the seat post. A second spring is attached to the frame and adapted to urge the upper cross bar upwards. The springs are chosen so that no discomfort is caused to a rider of a bicycle having the bicycle frame when the rider dismounts the bicycle, straddles the upper cross bar and, by the weight of the rider's body, pivots the rear end of the upper cross bar downward until both feet of the rider touch the ground.
Abstract: A swaging unit which is portable and which has a locking fitting to co-operate with separable components to the secure a sleeve in an engagement with the swaging unit. In this manner, a tube can be swaged onto the sleeve. The locking fitting has internal threads which engage with external threads on the separable components to facilitate engagement. The swaging unit can be finely adjusted by having fine threads between a locknut and a cage for housing the mandrel.
