Abstract: A radially expandable stent for implantation within a body vessel, comprising a first and second elongated element having a series of peaks alternating with valleys forming a wave shape therein. The first elongated element is interwoven with the second elongated element in a series of crossovers, with each crossover forming a symmetrical intersection and each successive pair of crossovers defining a loop. The interwoven first and second elongated elements are wound into a hollow cylindrical shape with at least one longitudinal strut extending parallel to a longitudinal axis of the hollow cylindrical shape and passing through at least one of the loops along the hollow cylindrical shape.
Abstract: A catheter body with a single, centrally located guidewire lumen having an odd number of longitudinally extending, generally planar, inner wall surfaces. Each wall surface has a radius of curvature in excess of the guidewire's radius of curvature, as measured in cross section. The wall surfaces are joined to one another by longitudinally extending corner surfaces, each corner surface having a radius of curvature less than the guidewire's radius of curvature, as measured in cross section. The wall surfaces and corner surfaces are formed of alternating thicknesses to the outer diameter.
Abstract: A catheter adapted for placement within a living anatomy, such as the human coronary arterial system, comprises a proximal portion, a first arcuate portion, a second arcuate portion, and a distal tip. The catheter is shaped so that with the distal tip engaged in the coronary ostium, the ellipsoidal shaped second arcuate portion is in contact with the contralateral wall of the aorta, the catheter thus resisting forces tending to displace the distal tip from the ostium.
Abstract: A body-implantable lead (10) for use in cardiac pacing having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end connected to a medical device, an active fixation device such as a helix electrode (330) having a distal end and a proximal end, the tissue securing means extending from the lead body distal end, an electrical conductor (15) extending between the proximal and distal ends of the lead, and a longitudinally extending radiopaque marker (35 or 335) affixed to the lead body (10) proximal to the tissue securing means, the radiopaque marker (35 or 335) showing rotational movement or distortion of the radiopaque marker (35 or 335) under fluoroscopy.
