Abstract: A bag for the containment of fluent material, having an openable and reclosable pour spout. The bag includes a tubular bag body, and at least one flattened end forming a bag mouth. A closure flap emanates from one side of the bag mouth, to be folded over across the mouth to close the bag. A spout structure is affixed to an outer surface of one of the sides of the bag mouth. The spout structure includes a base sheet affixed to the bag body, and a spout flap releasably affixed to the base sheet. Upon sealing of the bag end, the spout flap becomes non-releasably affixed to an inside portion of the closure flap of the bag body. The spout flap is separable from the base sheet, via a first adhesive material is affixed to one or both of the spout flap and base sheet, for enabling repeated opening and reclosing of a portion of a portion of the bag mouth at the spout flap.

Abstract: A notification system for monitoring and detecting the integrity of an expansion joint and delivering an indication of the expansion joint's integrity to a remote location. The preferred embodiment of the apparatus is comprised of a sensor for detecting the environments condition between two or more plies of a bellows, and transmitting a corresponding signal to a control apparatus, the control apparatus capable of making a comparative analysis of the sensor's signal with two or more predetermined parameters. Based upon the results of the comparative analysis, if the control apparatus determines the deviation in the environmental characteristics are unacceptable, the control apparatus transmits a signal to a message transmittal apparatus which transforms the signal into a communication signal.

Abstract: The present disclosure discloses an apparatus for generating a shaped waveform derived from a binary input signal. The apparatus receives a binary input signal and a sample clock signal. The sample clock signal changes the state of an up/down counter. The binary input signal controls the counting direction of the counter. The counter addresses a lookup table containing stored values. Also disclosed is the apparatus in which the lookup table output is converted to an analog signal by a digital-to-analog converter. The lookup table can be programmed such that the circuit output is equivalent to a filtered version of the binary input signal. The apparatus may optionally be enabled or disabled, such that the apparatus output assumes a predetermined state when disabled.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a bone marrow biopsy device including an outer cannula, an outer cannula handle having a locking member, an inner rod, an inner rod handle having a locking member, and an independent locking element. The outer cannula handle locking member further comprises a flange element, and the inner rod handle locking member further comprises at least one prong. In one embodiment, the locking element comprises a cylindrical sleeve surrounding the at least one prong and the flange element. The cylindrical sleeve comprises at least one slot which aligns with the at least one prong when the locking element is in its unlocked orientation. The locking element is placed into its locked orientation by rotation of the locking element about the at least one prong and the flange element such that the at least one prong no longer aligns with the at least one slot and is therefore prevented from passing over the flange element.

Abstract: An expansion joint patch apparatus for repairing failed or torn expansion joint belting having a substantially flat, woven substrate material, and a cured solution of suspended elastomer, coating the substrate material. The substrate material is selected from the group consisting of aramid, fiberglass, corrosion resistant alloy wire, polyester, ceramic and kevlar fabrics. The elastomer material is selected from the group consisting of chloroprene, chlorosulfonated polyethylene, ethylene propylene, chloronated isobutylene isoprene, fluoroelastomers and silicone rubbers. The invention further includes a method for forming a fluoroelastomer patch for repairing fabric expansion joints.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a bone marrow biopsy needle including an outer cannula having a proximal end, a distal end, a hollow section therebetween and a handle portion associated with the proximal end, and an inner rod having a proximal end, a distal end and a handle cap. The handle portion further includes a grip enhancement member which is formed from a material distinct from at least a portion of the handle portion, such as rubber. The grip enhancement member may take the form of insert members which fit into cavities in the handle portion of the outer cannula. The grip enhancement member not only enhances the gripping surface of the bone marrow biopsy needle, but also provides cushioning for a user and adds weight to the handle portion to facilitate weight distribution throughout the outer cannula handle.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a self-erecting container formed from the rapid deployment of flattened, partially articulated and/or pre-glued blanks into an articulated orientation, for the facilitated containment and dispensing of fluid articles. The self-erecting container comprises a bottom panel, two end panels, two side panels, and a pair of corner panels joining each end panel to each side panel. One of each pair of corner panels is affixed to one of opposed side or end panels, forming a container pocket having a substantially collapsed orientation. Upon raising of the end or side panels, respectively, the corner panels cause the respective side or end panels to be automatically be raised relative to the bottom panel, and the container pocket prompted to a substantially upright and expanded orientation. The container further comprises a fluid article holding bag attached to a nozzle, which is inserted into at least one aperture in one of the bottom, end and side panels.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for intelligent low battery response by a wireless telephone is provided. When the wireless telephone's rechargeable battery nears depletion of energy, and a call is in progress, the party conversing with the wireless telephone user is provided with a voice notification that termination of the call due to battery depletion is imminent. When the wireless telephone's rechargeable battery pack nears depletion of energy and a call is not in progress, the wireless telephone automatically initiates call forwarding with the wireless telephone network such that calls directed to the subscriber's wireless telephone number while the battery is depleted are redirected to a different telephone number. After replacing or recharging a depleted battery pack, and repowering on the wireless telephone, call forwarding is automatically deactivated such that the subscriber can resume receiving calls at the wireless telephone number.

Abstract: Text to be spoken by a speaker, e.g. a newsreader, and held in a store, is displayed on a display which is seen by the speaker through a partially-reflecting mirror 16 mounted in front of a television camera. The text is scrolled up as the speaker speaks, this being achieved automatically by a controller. The controller recognizes the spoken speech picked up by a microphone, using speech recognition techniques, and matches the spoken text with the stored text to be spoken. The speed at which the text is spoken is thus determined and used by positioning circuit to adjust the rate at which the text scrolls up on the display. If the speech recognition fails, the text continues to be changed at a rate dependent upon the previous rate of change.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a teething bib having a front side, a back side, an upper portion, a bottom portion, an outer periphery having an outer peripheral edge and teething material operably associated with at least a portion of the outer periphery of the bib. The teething material preferably emanates from the outer peripheral edge of the bib, and may extend around the entire outer periphery. The teething material may also includes gaps. The bib includes an opening for an infant's head, and may also include a fastening member for folding the bottom of the bib into a pocket for the collection of food or liquid during feeding.

Abstract: A telephone handset construction is provided, which has a movable cover which is articulable from a closed position to an open position. The cover has a rigid portion and a flexible portion. When the cover is in the closed position, the flexible portion thereof is furled around front and top portions of the main body of the telephone handset. Upon deployment of the cover, by pulling the rigid portion of the cover in a direction away from the main body of the handset, the flexible portion of the cover is unfurled and moved to a position substantially covering the back of the main body portion of the handset.

Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method for creating and using a dynamic universal resource locator to link an internet end user to a host selected from two or more hosts on the internet. The method comprises the steps of: (a) obtaining information related to either or both of the end user and/or the two or more hosts; (b) selecting, based upon the obtained information, one of the two or more hosts; and (c) generating a link to the selected host. Also disclosed is a method for connecting a user to a dial-up host having an internet domain name and a temporary internet address.

Abstract: An apparatus for the treatment of gases in a positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system, in an internal combustion engine, is provided with a housing defining a gas treatment chamber. At least one gas filtering medium is disposed in the treatment chamber, and the gases from the engine crankcase are passed through the gas filtering medium in the treatment chamber, before the gases are routed into the air intake portion of the engine. In addition, the gases, after passage through the gas filtering medium, are passed through an ionization device.

Abstract: Shown and described is a device for the discontinuous preparation of pasta such as spaghetti or similar, comprising a pasta supply unit (7); a pasta preparation unit closed off by inlet shutters (2) and outlet shutters (4), for cooking and draining the pasta; and a pasta dispenser unit where the design height has been reduced in that the pasta preparation unit comprises only a single chamber (1) which is used both for cooking and rinsing with cold water and draining the cooked pasta.
