    Abstract: A diode type ultraviolet sensor having a layered-structure body including a conductive layer composed of a sintered ceramic body having conductivity and a semiconductor layer composed of an oxide semiconductor including ZnO. The semiconductor layer is disposed on a principal surface of the conductive layer and forms a heterojunction with the conductive layer. The ultraviolet sensor is used in such a condition that the semiconductor layer is positioned at a light-receiving side irradiated by ultraviolet rays. The semiconductor layer is preferably composed of a sintered body. The sintered body serving as the conductive layer and sintered body serving as the semiconductor layer are preferably formed by co-firing. Terminal electrodes are provided on a principal surface and the other principal surface of the layered-structure body, respectively.

    Abstract: A power control system for a network system in which a plurality of devices are connected over a network can adequately distribute limited power according to the operational state of each device while keeping a high reliability. A device operating in normal mode broadcasts a power accommodation request when the power of the device is insufficient. Upon reception of the power accommodation request, devices operating in low-power mode send accommodatable power values to the requesting device, and sends a low-power mode fixation notification indicating that operational mode is fixed to the low-power mode to a controller. Upon reception of the low-power mode fixation notification from the notifying devices, the controller sets a job assignment ratio to the notifying devices lower than that of the requesting device.

    Abstract: A textile made by weaving while crossing stainless wires as warp yarn and silk yarns as weft yarn one by one alternately, and this textile is attached to a frame body to configure a wire grid. The pitch for the stainless wires is determined depending on a wavelength to be polarized and analyzed. Furthermore, the silk yarns are removed if necessary. This configuration avoids problems with cutting of metal wire or irregular intervals between metal wires because of long fine metal wires tightened parallel to each other in the frame body, and problems such as multiple reflection or interference on a substrate or a base material because of fine wire patterns made by etching or the like with the use of the substrate or base material, thereby obtaining an easily-manufactured, low-cost and high-precision wire grid for polarization and analysis of electromagnetic waves.

Rotation of the rotatable member draws the pulling member and respective part of the suction disk away from the surface. An intermediate member is provided which engages the suction disk and supports the rotatable member. A structural member is mounted in or on the intermediate member. The outer diameter of the rotatable member is slightly larger than the outer diameter of the adjacent part of the intermediate member, so that a user's fingers will grip the rotatable member without catching on parts of the intermediate member.

The suturing instrument includes a cannulated handle attached to the proximal end of a cannulated shaft. The suture attached to the needle passes through the shaft and out the proximal end of the handle. Once the instrument is inserted into the body (usually through a cannula), the suture is retracted at the proximal end of the instrument handle, which draws the attached needle into the needle dock. The suture dock preferably has a compound curvature which prevents substantial rotation of the needle upon insertion.
